One smoke and ruined.
First I should say I am not entirely new to pipe smoking, but this is my first and only Flogglewerks pipe. Upon receiving the pipe I thought it looked a bit overly simple but still a beautiful piece. I did a light coating of honey on the inside of the bowl and allowed that to dry for around 32 hours. I loaded it with some SPC Plum Pudding Special Reserve flake and sat back for a long and slow smoke. At first I could not have been more pleased!! The pipe smoked easy and smooth with a fine cool smoke. I smoked it slow with plenty of breaks, totaling to roughly 2 hours. Never once did it feel hot to the touch in my hand. However, as I was getting to the bottom of the bowl it started to taste especially bitter and downright nasty. When I tapped the bowl out, to my complete disappointment and despair, a large portion of the bottom of the chamber had been burned away. So much so that the end of the stem was charred! To conclude, I really really wanted to love this pipe. But one smoke, and it is ruined. I smoked it slow and cool, trying to build a cake in the chamber. Very sad and disappointed to have such a piece be a one smoke pipe.
