Stay away and use them at your own risk
All of the sudden my requests started timing out late evening. Eventually the timeouts started returning 503. There was no information anywhere to figure out what was going on. Then I tried navigating to scraper.infatica.io, which started returning 503 Nginx page. This kept happening for several hours. So I opened a support ticket and sent them screenshots of the error. They got back the next day saying it should be okay now. At that point I didn’t care anymore that the service was up. I wanted to know what happened and why they couldn’t have informed their users ahead of time. I sent multiple replies trying to get to the bottom of it. Eventually they replied saying they were making infrastructure changes to handle more users. After that response I didn’t want to deal with them anymore. This was not a fatal error causing system crash. It was allegedly a planned upgrade. They could not communicate properly what’s goin on. When given the opportunity to explain what happened, they couldn’t muster a professionally satisfying response. I wouldn’t trust them to babysit a pet rock let alone be the backbone of a critical infrastructure. Another thing, their API usage reporting is woefully inadequate. Either they are deliberately not reporting failed requests or are too incompetent to implement it properly. I wanna be able to track every single request with a unique request ID, url requested, and status code. But that would be too much transparency, which as I’ve explained above, is not something they’re capable of.
