Contracted for front and back garden…
Contracted for front and back garden work with an initial 3-week estimate, but the project extended to 5 weeks. Despite claiming a team of 3-5 workers, the majority of the job was handled by the husband, and additional help was only brought in towards the end. The contract, signed four weeks before the work began, included a £3000 deposit, but within a week, an additional £4000 was requested, leading to a significant slowdown in progress. Verbal agreements made regarding specific details were later denied, and the business owner, a woman, often either forgot or claimed certain aspects were never discussed. Despite the initial promise of a 5-year guarantee, legal issues cropped up during the job, resulting in a reduction to only 6 months. This critical information was not added to the contract. The signed contract appears to be one-sided, favoring the contractor without adequate provisions for customer protection. The overall conduct of the business is deemed unprofessional, and once the contract is signed, clients may feel entrapped, resembling a potential scam.
