Alibaba.com

Review (⭐ 1 star):

Review (⭐ 1 star): I purchased 100 commercial-grade ratchet straps for professional car hauling use from a supplier on Alibaba.com. Upon first use, the straps suffered a critical structural failure — the swivel pins fractured under standard operating tension, making them unsafe and illegal for commercial vehicle securement. I submitted clear evidence to Alibaba's Trade Assurance dispute process, including photographs of the fractured hardware and written communication from the supplier's own representative acknowledging the product could not withstand normal operating conditions. Throughout the process, the supplier's responses were evasive and never genuinely addressed the safety issue — yet Alibaba's dispute system still closed the case with a $0 refund via an automated system timeout, before my final evidence could be manually reviewed. I contacted Alibaba to request a proper review of this decision but received no substantive response. I was ultimately forced to file a chargeback through my bank to recover the funds. This experience showed me that Alibaba's Trade Assurance protection, which the platform advertises as a safeguard for buyers, does not function as promised when it actually matters — especially in a case involving a documented safety hazard. I've since moved my sourcing to another platform. Update (August 25, 2026): Alibaba responded publicly here saying the case was "formally escalated to the relevant team," but I want to note that my review does not include any order number, case ID, or identifying details — so there was nothing in this review alone to actually escalate. As of this update, no one from Alibaba has contacted me through any channel regarding this matter. This response appears to be a generic reply rather than an actual review of my case.
