travelling with IndiGo but knowing that there may be unforeseen circumstances!
I flew twice with IndiGo in January/February 2026, round trip Istanbul-Mumbai. Before departing, I had read many negative reviews and was a little apprehensive. For this reason, I decided right away to book only one direct flight and then travel by bus. The IST-BOM flight went very well: punctual, smooth and the staff were friendly. Everything went smoothly! On the flight from BOM to IST, I experienced the situations I had read so much about in reviews: almost three hours' delay on departure (fortunately, most of it at the airport and about 1 hour of waiting on board) caused, according to what was said, by reaching the maximum capacity for hand luggage on board! Instead of starting boarding, they announced at the last minute that passengers travelling to Istanbul as an intermediate stop had to hand over their hand luggage, which would be sent separately directly to their final destination. This created a truly chaotic situation, in which we had to wait crowded in front of the gate, standing and patiently, without receiving any proper information. Once on board, we ended up flying with the Turkish Airlines crew...and the IndiGo crew sitting among the passengers like us. The trip went well, but it was very tiring. IndiGo is a low-cost airline, but it would have taken probably very little to improve the management of unexpected events and problems, at least with greater care and attention towards the passengers.
