While trying out the Smodin AI
It seems that I am not the only consumer this has happened to. While using Smodin AI, a promotion to upgrade to a yearly subscription suddenly appeared on my screen without warning. I was about to click something else and accidentally clicked “Upgrade.” To my surprise, my account was immediately upgraded without any type of confirmation or verification step. I never intended to purchase a yearly subscription. I immediately contacted support, but they refused to issue a refund, stating there was nothing they could do. This is unacceptable. The company’s design appears intentionally deceptive—placing a pop-up at the exact moment of interaction and processing payment without any confirmation page, disclosures, or consent. I am reporting this to my bank as a fraudulent transaction and will also report Smodin to the appropriate authorities for fraudulent business practices. This company’s conduct raises serious consumer protection concerns.
