Before we used Repairit
Before we used Repairit, we tried a bunch of other recovery methods to see if we could fix the files ourselves. We started with Untrunc, which we compiled from source on macOS — it rebuilt the video but dropped all the audio. Then we ran ffmpeg and ffprobe to check the file structure and confirmed the headers were damaged and no audio tracks existed. We also tried PhotoRec to dig through the SD card at the sector level; it found a few fragments but nothing that would play. VLC and QuickTime couldn’t open any of them, and even ffmpeg remuxing attempts came up empty. After all that, Wondershare Repairit was the only thing that actually worked — it recovered full video and audio from every file on the first try.
