Journey of a lifetime
It is easy to underestimate the amount of skills needed to be a guide for a trp like the Lhasa, Qumolangma (everest) and Mount Kailash trek. Sonam Tempal used his many skills to help us make the most of this incredible opportunity. I undertook this trip in October 2025 with Sonam Tempal as the guide for the group. Sonam was very knowledgeable about Tibeten culture and religious practices and shared with the group freely and honestly. He always had a smile and remained cheerful throughout and was happy to help us with a range of demands that we kept throwing at him. Being an older and less fit man I wondered whether the trek would be too much for me. Thanks to Sonam's advice and gentle guidance I was mistaken and I undertook the full Kora which was my main reason for going. The way he looked after me was impeccable, with patience, affection and good humour. I am immensely grateful for the way he helped deal with altitude sickness and supported me with advice and guidance to get me through the Mount Kailash Trek. I enjoyed being up on the mountain so much I didn't want to come down and I savoured every minute.
