Unauthorized Subscription Change & Improper Charges
My aunt signed up for a subscription that provided a 3-month supply shipped every 3 months. Recently, her credit card was charged in both March and April. When we called, we were told the company changed all subscriptions to monthly shipments and that an email was sent. This does not make sense—shipping a 3-month supply every month is a major change to the agreement and billing frequency. We never approved this change. An email alone is not sufficient authorization for a material billing change. We canceled the subscription. Initially, we were told we would have to pay for return shipping on the extra product caused by their change, which is not reasonable. After pushing back, they agreed to provide a return label. Concern: Changing subscription terms and billing frequency without clear customer consent, then attempting to charge return shipping for unwanted product, is not acceptable.
