Trapped by a vague renewal reminder $329 gone, zero usage
I signed up for a 1-week free trial just to read a single article. Life got busy and I forgot to cancel. Next thing I know, I see a ~$350 charge on my card statement. I reached out to their support and was told they sent a reminder email 4 days before billing. Sure, they did. But the subject line was "A heads up about your Premium membership..." — that's it. No mention of the dollar amount. No "You will be charged $329 in 4 days." Just a vague "heads up." That email was buried under a pile of promotional emails and looked no different from their regular marketing. I requested a refund explaining I had not used the service even once after the charge. Their response? "Our subscriptions are non-refundable per our Terms of Use." That's all. An honest company would send a clear pre-charge notice: "Your free trial ends in 4 days. You will be automatically charged $329.00 on April 21." Instead, they rely on vague language to catch people off guard and hide behind their terms when asked for a refund. Zero usage. Zero refund. Zero integrity.
