Horrible
I have never experienced such a catastrophic situation with an airline. Our return journey from the Maldives to Belgium turned into a complete nightmare due to IndiGo’s handling of the trip. After a first flight to Mumbai that went smoothly, our flight to Istanbul was delayed and then cancelled after boarding. We were made to wait for nearly four hours in a small room with no toilets, no water, no food, and not enough seating, with no clear information provided. We were then rebooked on a flight almost 12 hours later, without any hotel, meals, or meaningful assistance. The staff were unpleasant and unable to provide any explanations. In Istanbul, we were then denied boarding to Brussels because the tickets reissued by IndiGo had not even been properly registered. After several hours of waiting and discussions, we eventually managed to get another flight. The result: nearly two days of delay. As if that were not enough, all three of our checked bags were lost for more than two weeks. On top of that, IndiGo staff forced us to check in our cabin bag at Mumbai. When it was finally returned, two watches worth approximately €500 in total were missing. Despite this, we were denied any compensation on the grounds that valuables should not be placed in checked luggage—while it was their staff who required us to do so. Overall: nearly two days of delay, no assistance, terrible communication, administrative errors, three lost bags, and stolen personal belongings. I understand that disruptions can happen in air travel. However, the way IndiGo treats its passengers when they do is simply unacceptable. I strongly do not recommend this airline. By far the worst travel experience I have ever had.
