Veterans United Home Loans

NOT a veterans affiliated organization.

NOT a veterans affiliated organization at all. I am a 30 year veteran who went to them for a VA home loan, believing the marketing that they support veterans and are affiliated with the VA. They immediately tried to dissuade a VA loan upfront. Said that our property did not qualify for an VA loan. When stated many times that I ONLY wanted an VA loan, they dragged their feet, repeatedly request the same document over & over (up to 6 times), and tried 3 times to place me into a conventional loan. I provided all the documents within a few days of requesting. They continually delayed & we missed our closing date. Days before the first closing date, VU called stated they had all the paperwork & everything ready for a conventional loan where I would have to pay PMI, 20% down payment, and loan funding fee to them (all waived in the VA loan). When I said no again, we had to move the closing a month later. I have excellent credit, purchased multiple properties in the past, and I have money in the bank. Never had any problems with loans/mortgages. I almost missed the second closing date as well due to their pressuring me again into a conventional loan (more money for them). There were so many things that made this the most painful mortgage of my life. I have a close friend and 30 yr veteran who recently had the exact same experience with VU. She almost missed her closing date as well. Both of us did not know the DAY of closing whether it was a go. If you are a veteran, do not use Veterans United mortgage co.
