Thought ADT was better
I am writing this review on ADT security for deceptive sales practices, omission of material facts, and billing for services not rendered. I canceled my landline service 18 months ago, which unknowingly left my traditional alarm panel completely unable to communicate with ADT’s monitoring servers. For 16 months, ADT continued to bill me for professional life-safety monitoring despite their system logs showing a continuous 'Failure to Communicate' status. Two months ago, I called ADT with the explicit intent to cancel my account. Instead of informing me that my system had been completely offline and non-functional for over a year, the retention representative withheld this critical information. They induced me into signing a new, long-term 60-month contract extension by offering a lowered monthly rate. I was misled into committing to a five-year agreement for a life-safety monitoring service that ADT knew they were physically incapable of providing on my dead hardware. ADT used aggressive retention tactics and intentional non-disclosure to lock me into a predatory contract. ADT has been unwilling to cancel the contract without a huge fee, reimburse me for monies paid without service and have bullied me into believing it is only my fault. I have zero trust in this company.
