Eventually refunded, but the experience was frustrating

I want to update this review because the situation was, after considerable effort, resolved. But I am leaving the full account here so others know what to expect. I signed up expecting a course priced at around 20 USD, as stated on the website. Within about five minutes I had gone through the "4 days" of content and realised it consisted of generic advice that is freely available anywhere on the internet, with no real added value. I immediately requested cancellation and a refund. At that point I knew nothing about any additional charges, and the website had shown me nothing about them. I was then charged the ~20 USD. Fine, I accepted that as part of the process, even though any reputable business in the EU offers a 14-day withdrawal period. Had they simply declined to refund those 20 USD, I would have been dissatisfied but would have accepted it as the cost of finding out the content was not for me. The real problem came next: an additional ~50 USD was charged to my account, roughly 2.5 times the advertised price. I had clicked a popup only to see what it contained; the total shown to me was still the original amount. I never knowingly confirmed a second purchase for 50 USD. Their support insisted that their checkout requires multiple confirmations and always displays the price before payment, but that did not match what I experienced. What stood out to me was the contrast in how quickly they acted depending on the direction: they had no problem cancelling my account immediately, without asking me for any confirmation or additional "evidence." Yet when it came to acknowledging the unexpected 50 USD charge, suddenly I was the one asked to prove that I had not agreed to it. The only message I received right after all this was a satisfaction survey about a "conversation" that had not really happened, while the extra charge sat on my statement. At that stage, given the number of reviews here describing very similar experiences, I was genuinely convinced this was a scam, and I said so. I reported the charges to my bank and disputed them. To their credit: after a lengthy back-and-forth, MusesAcademy did eventually refund the full amount, including the disputed 50 USD. I promised to update my review if that happened, so I am doing so, and I want to acknowledge fairly that the money was returned. Still, I remain dissatisfied with the overall experience. Getting there required real persistence, a formal bank dispute, and a public review before the matter was taken seriously. In my opinion, a legitimate refund of a charge a customer says they never authorised should not require that much pressure. And the core issue that triggered all of this, being billed an extra amount I did not knowingly approve, is a serious one regardless of how it ended. My advice to others: the content itself is, in my view, not worth the price, as it is generic material available for free elsewhere. If you do sign up, be extremely careful with the payment flow and any additional offer presented after registration, read every confirmation screen closely, and check your bank statement immediately afterwards. The refund did happen in my case, but only after significant effort on my part. I have increased the score to two stars for refunding the money.
