Confidence in everyday life
I have been so happy with my private 1-on-1 instruction with Connect Mandarin! My teacher is wonderful and I genuinely feel like she cares about my learning and wants me to do well. I especially enjoy telling her about the times I've actually been able to use what I've learned around Beijing. I'll tell her a story about ordering food, having a small conversation, or figuring out how to communicate in a situation where I would have been completely lost a few months ago, and she gets genuinely excited for me. It makes the whole process feel a lot more personal and fun. When I started studying Chinese roughly six months ago, the language was completely foreign to me. I'm honestly surprised by how much I've been able to learn in six months! I still have a long way to go, but my lessons have given me the skills and the confidence to actually try to speak Chinese in everyday situations. Even when I don't quite get it right, I'm much more willing to try- and I've had some really fun successes along the way! I'll be living in China for the next few years, so I'm excited to keep going and see how much I can improve. I just recently signed up for several more months of lessons and I'm looking forward to seeing where my Chinese skills are a year from now!
