I strongly recommend that you do not…
I strongly recommend that you do not buy a NIU scooter if there is no authorised repair/service centre near where you live. This applies not only to Australia, but anywhere NIU sells its products without providing accessible local after-sales service. My experience with NIU’s after-sales support has been extremely disappointing. If there is no service centre nearby, the warranty becomes of very limited practical value when something actually goes wrong — because NIU apparently expects you to find a dealer yourself. My scooter has developed a serious issue where it turns itself on and off while it is switched off and locked. This drains the battery over several days without the scooter even being used. I have installed the latest firmware/software version, and the problem still persists. I contacted NIU support expecting proper troubleshooting or a realistic repair solution. Instead, I received responses that did not address the actual problem. At one point, they simply sent me their dealer locator and told me to find an authorised dealer myself. I am in Australia, and the nearest option I could find was in New Zealand. My problem remains unresolved. What concerns me even more is what happens if a major and expensive component, such as the battery, fails. Without an accessible authorised service centre, I could effectively be left to deal with the repair myself. I completely regret buying this scooter. The specifications and technology mean very little if the manufacturer cannot provide practical after-sales support when something goes wrong. Before buying NIU, check whether there is an actual authorised repair/service centre near you — not just whether NIU sells scooters in your country. If there isn’t one, my recommendation based on my experience is simple: DO NOT BUY. DO NOT BUY. DO NOT BUY.
