Very disappointing customer service and a frustrating returns process I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Sports Direct. I purchased a pair of shoes for my son, and after wearing them only twice, we noticed a problem with the stitching/construction around the lacing area of the left shoe. It causes noticeable pressure and discomfort when worn. My son had previously owned the same model without any problems, so this was particularly disappointing. I took the shoes to the store with my receipt, hoping the issue could be resolved. However, the staff initially refused to help, telling me that they would not exchange the shoes if the issue was a manufacturing fault. This was extremely frustrating, as a potential manufacturing defect should be a reason to investigate the complaint, not simply dismiss it. I then spent considerable time contacting Customer Services by email. Although they initially contacted the store and asked me to return for another inspection, the issue was still not resolved. The assistant manager measured the area and stated that no measurable difference or manufacturing fault had been found. Customer Services eventually told me that if I wanted to challenge the decision further, I would need to arrange and pay for an independent footwear inspection. They could not guarantee that the cost would be reimbursed, even if a manufacturing defect was confirmed. What disappointed me most was that, despite all the emails, explanations, and trips to the store, I felt that the company was more interested in defending its decision than finding a fair and practical solution. The customer service process was lengthy and stressful, and ultimately I received no help. I understand that not every complaint can result in an exchange or refund, but I expected my concerns to be properly addressed and a reasonable solution offered, especially when the shoes had only been worn twice. Based on my experience, I am very unhappy with how Sports Direct handled this complaint. I would think twice before buying from them again.
