An Amazing Shanghai Experience with Caroline and GoPagoda Travels! We were a group of seven friends visiting Shanghai for three nights, and what an incredible experience we had! A huge part of what made our stay so memorable was our wonderful guide, Caroline, from GoPagoda Travels. Our itinerary was quite unusual. We dedicated one day entirely to exploring Shanghai’s futuristic side, experiencing robo-taxis, drone food deliveries, humanoid robots, and visiting Xiaomi and Huawei stores. The following day was more traditional sightseeing, shopping, visiting the spectacular Shanghai Tower and enjoying an evening river cruise. With seven friends having seven different interests, keeping everyone happy was no small task! Some of us were fascinated by technology, others loved shopping, while a few of us were constantly looking for the perfect photo opportunity. Caroline handled all of this brilliantly, with endless patience, enthusiasm and a lovely personal touch. One of the biggest surprises was discovering that Caroline was also a professional photographer! Once we saw the quality of her pictures, we practically handed over our photography duties to her! She had a wonderful eye for composition, lighting and framing, and the photographs she took of our group were simply outstanding. We’ve been sharing them with friends and family back home, and everyone has been amazed at how good they look. That was such an unexpected bonus! What impressed us even more was Caroline’s incredible local knowledge and flexibility. We were constantly coming up with last-minute ideas — “Can we visit this place?” or “What about stopping there?” — and somehow Caroline always found a way to make things happen. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble for her. She also made sure we ate really well! One particularly memorable experience was a Northern Chinese restaurant she recommended, where the food was absolutely delicious. She helped organise dinner takeaways and even arranged deliveries to our hotel for members of our group who wanted to buy things online. Without access to many of the local Chinese apps, we would have struggled with these little practicalities, but Caroline quietly sorted everything out for us. It’s these thoughtful gestures that really make a difference when travelling in a foreign country. The excellent service extended to the entire GoPagoda Travels team. Sandy, who coordinated our arrangements, was professional, responsive and a pleasure to deal with throughout. Our driver, Huang, was always punctual, and our Mercedes-Benz vehicle was simply fantastic — spacious, incredibly comfortable and complete with ambient lighting that made us feel like royalty as we travelled around Shanghai! Having dealt with several travel agencies during our China trip, I must also mention that GoPagoda Travels offered us the most competitive price, without compromising one bit on quality. In fact, the overall experience exceeded our expectations. But what we will remember most is Caroline herself. She was far more than someone simply taking us from one attraction to another. She genuinely cared about our experience, understood the different personalities in our group and went out of her way to make every day enjoyable. Her warmth, humour, knowledge and willingness to accommodate our sometimes unpredictable requests made Shanghai feel that much more special. A massive thank you to Caroline, Sandy, Huang and the entire GoPagoda Travels team! We came away with fantastic memories, hundreds of beautiful photographs and a real appreciation for Shanghai. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended, and we would happily travel with them again!
