Fast, competent handling of a malware abuse report
I reported a typosquatted domain registered through Gname that was impersonating our site and distributing a Windows client containing a trojan — flagged by Kaspersky, ESET, DrWeb and several other engines on VirusTotal.
The first response was a standard request for a trademark certificate, which we don't have. I replied explaining that this wasn't a trademark dispute but a malware distribution case under ICANN's DNS Abuse framework, and provided the VirusTotal report and file hash. The team re-evaluated it on that basis and placed the domain on Client Hold.
What I appreciated: they were willing to look past the intake template and assess the actual evidence. Plenty of registrars would have closed the ticket the moment we said we had no registered trademark. Gname didn't, and a domain pushing a backdoor to end users is now offline.
One suggestion: the evidence upload step only accepts images, so there's no way to submit a file hash, a sandbox report, or the sample itself as text or an attachment. For malware cases specifically, that makes documentation harder than it needs to be.

Thanks for helping keep the internet safer. Every report you file, every suspicious registration you flag, makes it that much harder for bad actors to operate and that much easier for the rest of us to trust the web a little more. It's easy to overlook this kind of work because it happens quietly, in the background, without much recognition. But it matters. We see it, and we're grateful for it. Thanks again!
Spam.l submitted a DropCash request on the platform.
The platform doesn't offer a closed auction; instead, it takes the domain and sells it in an open auction, without any consideration for the client.

Hello. We route drop requests to open auctions to provide equal access for prospective buyers while maximizing liquidity for sellers. Broad market exposure drives competitive bidding, ensuring assets achieve true market value rather than being restricted in a closed pool.
Thank you for sharing your feedback; we'll relay this to Product. Should you have other feedback, feel free to submit them via our ticketing system.
Gname is hands down my favorite platform for domain backorders right now! What sets them apart from other platforms is their high drop-catch success rate, user-friendly interface, and fast customer support response. Highly recommended for any domain investor looking for a reliable platform.

Thanks so much for sharing this! We love hearing that our platform is making a real difference and helping our community succeed in their domaining journey.
been using gname for a while, it is ok but sometimes their live chat employees are not aware of basic domaining terms while its a huge backordering and auctions platform.. your live chat emps need stronger knowledge towards basic domaining terms.

Thanks for letting us know. We're always looking to improve our service, and we appreciate this feedback. We'll relay this to the Support team.
Gname hide their scammer customers behind aaking for police to contact Them, that is just not a possibility as its against law to require these things across borders.
But hey, should I Ever witness a murder - I dont report it to the police, I just say I Will cooperate with The police if they contact me. Just as Gname have as policy.

Hi, thank you for sharing your concerns. We take feedback like this seriously.
We understand the frustration around cases involving suspected fraud, especially when they cross jurisdictions. Our policy of directing verification requests through law enforcement isn't meant to shield bad actors; it exists because we're not in a position to independently investigate or adjudicate criminal allegations between parties, and acting on unverified accusations without proper authority could expose innocent customers to unfair account actions. Law enforcement involvement gives us a legitimate basis to act.
That said, we recognize cross-border reporting can be genuinely difficult and if that's the core issue here, we'd like to understand your specific situation better. Could you reach out to us directly at [email protected] with your case details? We're happy to look into whether there's another way to help.
Gname prefer to keep their scam customers hidden from police, even when they are informed that they registred a scammer site, they dont really want to inform of who to report to the police.

Hi there. As an accredited domain registrar, we are bound by strict data privacy laws, including ICANN regulations and Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). These frameworks mandate the protection of WHOIS registrant data. Consequently, we are legally prohibited from releasing customer information, lifting privacy protections, or sharing internal records with third parties without a valid legal basis.
We do, however, cooperate fully with global law enforcement. To proceed, investigating authorities must submit a formal legal request directly to our Abuse and Legal department. Upon receipt of the appropriate legal documentation, our team will act swiftly to provide the requested records.
We appreciate your diligence and stand ready to assist the authorities once the formal process is initiated.
it's a scam. they ask for payment then lock your funds and you get nothing at the end.

Hey there. It looks like you participated in our backorder / auction. Thank you for participating in our recent backorder and auction process. I wanted to share a quick update on how funds and fees are handled:
If your bid or backorder wasn't successful: No worries—your held funds will be fully released and returned to your account within a few business days.
If you joined the auction directly: Please note that entering an auction without a prior backorder carries a standard $7 break-in fee.
I hope this helps clarify your account activity. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out!
Amazing app. I have been using many apps to register domains, but this one sets a new standard. Highly recommend. Probably the only domain registration app that is needed.
Great work guys!!!
the complaint was about this being a PHISHING site, not a copyright infringement

Hello, thanks for getting in touch. While we monitor TrustPilot, we aren't able to officially process or resolve compliance complaints here.
If you’ve already submitted a formal ticket, our team is currently on it. If not, please take a moment to file it directly through our portal at https://www.gname.com/abuse so we can get this sorted out for you as quickly as possible.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our initial review indicates that the domain in question was recently registered and does not currently have a recorded history of malicious activity.
If you have experienced fraudulent behavior by the site's operator, we strongly encourage you to submit a formal report directly to our abuse team here: https://www.gname.com/abuse.
