Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers experienced unexpected annual subscription charges and auto-renewals that occurred without prior warning or clear consent whatsoever. Furthermore, consumers expressed deep frustration regarding aggressive paywalls, the removal of previously free features, and overly strict content filters that severely limited their creative editing projects. Additionally, people struggled with difficult interface bugs and unresponsive mobile webpage designs while trying to complete their daily work.
Some people were satisfied with the software, describing it as an excellent and intuitive tool for fast daily photo editing. They also appreciated the responsive assistance provided by the friendly customer support representatives when resolving various account issues.
Pixlr is not honoring with its lifetime AppSumo deal
A few years ago Pixlr had a lifetime deal on AppSumo. One of the terms of this deal was that all updates to the premium plan would be guaranteed for those who made the purchase, but I recently discovered that this wasn't true.
At the end of last year Pixlr made an update and added several artificial intelligence tools, so the premium plan was updated with the new functions.
Although the AppSumo offer guaranteed these updates, contrary to expectations, lifetime users were not included. The premium plan guarantees 1000 AI credits per month. In the first few months the credits were renewed as they should have been, but in the last 2 months the renewal has stopped. I contacted Pixlr support and they said they won't be able to fulfill their offer because of the AI costs.
Not only are they not complying with the offer, but there's been no warning about it, meaning that lifetime buyers are being harmed and haven't even been warned.
I've made dozens of purchases of lifetime offers and several tools have made updates with artificial intelligence, including much smaller companies, and so far all of them are fulfilling their offers to lifetime users, except Pixlr.
I really hope Pixlr go back and honor the offer on their own terms.

I had a task at university to make a picture using this tool. The interface changed drastically and I had some problems in identifying the right tools. But overall the functionaluty is good and the design is quite simple and easy-to use.

I have utilised this platform for a few years now and have found it brilliant, but whatever the hell they have done to it over the last few days with the ai interface is not brilliant. It gives you 70 credits to use the ai and then it does not even add the image or add on you've requested, but happily takes your credits.
Maybe it's just experimental, but if so, they shouldn't be giving credits if it does not even work.
At least let users choose which interface they want to use, legacy or new, now it's just forced.
Using less now.

I purchased a lifetime deal on Pixlr a couple of years ago and I've been enjoying using it to create designs for social media: it has a built-in background remover, plus tools to help you tweak an existing image, heal blemishes, uses AI to blend backgrounds to smooth over issues, swap out colours, and more.
I especially love being able to take an AI generated image from another app and using Pixlr to tweak it, and then upscale it so I can get high quality images to use on merch sites! Super easy, and high ROI on that one aspect.
They don’t offer any refunds if you forgot to cancel your free trial the company is overall money hungry through the fact they limit the work YOU made your almost pressured into buying premium DONT waste time with the website unless your expecting your money taken

I thought Pixlr Premium would be the perfect solution for graphic design, but I was wrong! It's nothing but a never-ending nightmare. I have an annual subscription that I don't take advantage of and that frustrates me.
Every time I work on a design, everything freezes and poof! All my work disappears and sometimes, by magic, I get it back. It's like a cruel joke, it can make you laugh and it can make you cry, sometimes I work and pray at the same time that I'll get to the end. And it's not just once, these dysfunctions are repeated ad infinitum. I'm tired of doing the same work late at night, for nothing.
I can't believe I let myself be seduced by Pixlr's promises. I'm simply frustrated and angry. The hours I've lost, the creativity that's been wiped out, it's all gone. This experience has left me with a feeling of total desolation.
I expected Pixlr Premium to be an alternative to PS or AI, but instead it has become my worst nightmare. They need to get their act together and solve these problems as soon as possible. It's time for them to act and provide a reliable, user-friendly experience, or they're going to lose even more disappointed customers like me.

Hi there, to adhere to GDPR regulations, Pixlr does not store your projects in our cloud storage.
All your work are stored locally in your browser cache.
Your file may be lost due to the desktop clearing cache, working in an incognito mode where history and cache are not stored, or lack of storage space. It may also be due to your desktop being set to periodically clear cache to make space for your files. Changing to a different browser doesn't transfer the data from the cache.
To avoid any loss of your work due to unforeseen circumstances, we recommend saving your work/project as a PXZ file ( Pixlr Editable File) which you may upload to Pixlr to edit the Image anytime.

I don't have a problem paying an anual subscription but after using it a few times I have been blocked at three downloads per day. I paid for unlimited downloads and no ads for one year and have only had it since 27 Feb. Tried contacting Pixlr but have had no response.

I don't understand why people think they deserve anything for free, get over it. Pixlr is a company which needs to generate profit to pay for staffing, server housing, and a host of many other amenities to run a business, otherwise, no more Pixlr. How petty can one be to complain about dirt cheap monthly rates, none of you are entitled to anything, stop with the temper tantrums. Pixlr offers a quality service for a price you will not see elsewhere, and above all else, Pixlr is a business before it is a hand out. If you can't afford 8.99 annually then you should probably cancel your internet service which is more than likely running you anywhere from 25-80 a month. It takes some ignorant nerve to throw a cry party on a review site just because a business is trying to stay afloat.

Really disappointed with this. We teach photography to young people - 100s a year - and the Free Pixlr E has been brilliant for them. We'll have to find something else now as we can't ask them to pay for a subscription . Understand why and happy to pay for our own account but we'll have to find an alternative free platform for our students

I've been using Pixlr since 2020. I've only just recently started using it more for YouTube and now they've decided to hit users with a dumb daily limit out of nowhere. There are alternative sites and programs to use that don't charge. 2023 is the year we see a lot of platforms crumble cause of greed. They ignore their user base on Twitter, Discord and Reddit. The majority of the Discord has changed their names to either # or ! FreeSaveLimit LetUsSave or BringBackFreeSaves. If you're smart Pixlr (and I know you read these reviews) I'd listen to the people, there are other ways to nickel and dime users, like giving us features worth paying for instead of taking away a basic feature like saving.

At Pixlr, we would love to provide our editor for free as much as we can but as there are growing costs of operations, I am afraid the possibility is at its end.
Kindly note that to sustain the application, there are payments required for the servers and manpower involved.
Manpower includes those that maintain the server, maintain and upgrade the application to fit to latest required usages as well as marketing and support team to push the Pixlr brand so more people can know about the tool.
The ads don't generate much revenue which in addition to people using adblocks which has been developed to even erase elements from the browser. There are little ways we can continue maintaining the application.
We tried to keep the subscription cost as low as we can already with only 75 cent a month for the annual plan.

Used to be a great free alternative to Photoshop, but now requires you to subscribe to a NZ$1.79 a month subscription to save more than 2 images a day. Okay, that is a very cheap subscription, but I was only using it to crop images, as it's faster than opening Photoshop to do the same thing on my computer.
