What people say

The company is liars

The company is liars. They state on their page "we encourage developers to come and access our API for FREE", however when you actually make some time to develop, they are asking for your money. Liars, smoke and mirrors.

ahrefs takes your personal data through…

ahrefs takes your personal data through their payment processor even before you have your own site login to ahrefs. Then, once the payment is processed, they make you go through hoops to verify ownership of a domain. When you skip these steps it sends you in circles, step 5 back to 1. You never reach the dashboard. I had to ask chat support for the link to the dashboard (!). In your profile you will find the data you provided to their payment processor (a separate entity) now within their own system. They claim to be GDPR compliant. I have my doubts. These people need to study basic UX to put the user in control, and get off their high horse!

I am annoyed

I am annoyed. I asked on Ahrefs live chat if they let mi export list of keywords for my country, and they confirmed it. I specified what kind of list I need. I asked for sample data, but they refused to send it. So I had to purchase trial access. But when I purchased trial version, it occurred that it is not possible at all. I underline that I had to purchase trial, cause there is no free trail of their service. :( Be careful with this service.

Lots of downtimes

Lots of downtimes, poor eastern european like customer service, inconsistent plans and limitations that have not been fixed for years. Go for a group buy if you can - you will have the same issues and limitations.

A decent alternative to SEMrush

The user dashboard and data is a lot easier to navigate than similar services such as semrush. Although at first this seemed like just another monthly subscription, I've found that ahrefs is actually a pretty useful tool. The organic traffic really helps with quality checks and all round this is pretty handy to have.

They have good data and TERRIBLE…

They have good data and TERRIBLE customer service. If you live in a state where they don't have sales tax on services, they'll still bill you and collect sales tax on your service every month. They will change your account over years even if you're a devoted customer. They are disrespectful towards people who have paid them 10's of thousands of dollars. SEMrush, Majestic SEO or Moz will get the job done for less money and they won't screw with your account features without telling you.

Everything an SEO guy needs

I work at an SEO agency and I use Ahrefs every single day. The main things I use it for are: 1. Keyword research - I look for high intent and high volume keywords my clients would want to rank for, while taking keyword difficulty under consideration. With Ahrefs' filters that's freaking amazing. However, one thing I would love to have is advanced filtering where I can exclude one specific keyword form the search and include a different once as a must-have keyword. 2. Traffic analysis - I search for fitting websites within the niches m clients need and I make sure the site is ranking for organic keyword to make sure it attracts organic traffic, with sufficient volume. 3. I love spying on my clients' competitors through keyword research AND getting a peak at their google adwords campaigns which is completely visiable on Ahrefs platform, that's a growth hack in my book. There are loads of other things this platform can do but I listed my top 3 that in my opinion are the most benficial. Highly recommended.
