Yet another disappointing ad with false promises
I signed up after seeing an Instagram ad. I've come across a lot of these types of ads before and honestly assumed it would probably be another "too good to be true" situation. Unfortunately, it turned out to be exactly that. The ad repeatedly stated that the only cost to get started was the monthly Wix hosting fee, which it compared to the cost of a Netflix subscription. It made the whole process sound straightforward and affordable, with no upfront investment required. After signing up, I was told someone would call me within 5–10 minutes. The call actually came about an hour later, which wasn't a huge issue. At the start of the conversation, I explained that I'd given my UK number even though I'm currently abroad, so the call might disconnect. I also offered my local number and asked how long the call would take. The representative said around 10 minutes, but it went on much longer, and my offer to use my local number seemed to be ignored. The biggest issue came when I was told I needed a few hundred pounds to get started. That completely contradicted what was advertised. I explained that I simply don't have that kind of money available right now, and that's exactly why the advert had appealed to me in the first place. The response was basically that I just needed to find a couple of hundred pounds somehow. I kept pointing out that both the advert and the video on the landing page clearly stated there were no upfront costs beyond the Wix hosting fee. It even repeated that point further down the page. Despite that, I never really got an explanation for the contradiction. Eventually, the call cut off because my mobile data ran out. I couldn't call the number back because it doesn't accept incoming calls. I was also told someone would arrange an onboarding call and send me further information, but neither of those things happened. There was no follow-up email either. I'm just really disappointed. I genuinely thought this might be different, and I was excited to get started and hopefully make a positive change in my life. Instead, it felt like another company making promises that don't match the reality. Clearer communication and more honest advertising would have saved everyone a lot of time and disappointment.
