Avoid vendor lock-in with Apress PDF books
Apress is the best place to buy computer programming ebooks because they are available in PDF format that can be viewed on any device. I recently wanted to clear my purchase history on Amazon and my only option was to delete my Amazon account and make a new one. I lost several books in the process. Now I try to buy only PDF books exclusively. Apress also has a wide selection of books on almost any programming topic. I have found them to be very informative.

Inefficient and slow.
Inefficient and slow. Many emails to solve simple issues. And almost a month later I still have no idea when my book might arrive. It's no wonder Amazon is so successful.

Always find what I'm looking for. Large assortment of books and very good recommending system help in find everything to know about a subject.
Highly useful, but books tend to cover breadth over depth
Their books tend to fall in the "just enough" information to get you started on a topic. I would give 5 stars, but there are better options to get access to all their books than through apress.com directly.
Seven months in, still no credit; and now, an invoice for a book I've already paid
I am *STILL* waiting for a book to be credited. I ordered it in late January, had it removed from the larger order, which they did. They never credited me for that book. I have spoken to numerous reps, and even a supervisor, but still nothing, over seven months into it. This latest order, a few days ago, was missing a book (out of the 50 books, 49 were the ones I ordered, but the 50th was something I had never ordered). They shipped the 50th, but now they are sending me an invoice for that book. Every time you receive an email response, it's from a different person who has not bothered to read the first part of the exchange. It's like the movie "50 first dates", you start over every single f-ing time. I don't know how such a poorly managed company can stay in business. Although their practice makes it seem like they are scammers, I don't believe that this is the case. It's pure incompetence, and little to no regard paid to customer satisfaction or employee training.
