This is the worst moving company I’ve ever heard of
This is the worst moving company I’ve ever seen. My daughter was told that her furniture would be packed on May 8, 2026. Was not packed until May 13. Loaded on truck in Atlanta destined for Arizona on May 14. Told that it would be delivered on May 20. Part of their belongings were delivered on June 11. Multiple promises of delivery have been but as of today July 15 their other belongings have not been delivered. The items delivered was just a hogpoge—table pedestal, no table top, parts of three bed. This disaster of a delivery has cost them hotel fees, need to purchase clothes and etc. Terrible company and terrible customer service. Do not use them.

They were very communicative and…
They were very communicative and clearly explained all of the expenses and exactly what was included in the cost of the move. The movers were personable, professional, and took excellent care of our furniture throughout the entire move.
The movers didn't speak English, and they did damaged my driveway which was never reimbursed, as it was after i have moved out of state and the tenants occupied the house, even though i did submit the images immediately after. On top of that they damaged one of my dressers I did receive a sad check of $60, its not really relevant, overall they did deliver everything and left it in a good condition, however the driveway damage will remain. the overall rates were much higher than I initially expected, I won't be using their services in the future. Ironically they wanted to pay me $50 to write a 5 star review , they didn't deserve.

This was my second time to use Colonial…
This was my second time to use Colonial and I received great service both times!
Pick up was very orderly and great. A lot of communication, customer service promised two delivery men but only had one person delivering. He was great but some of my items were very very heavy. Many of the boxes on the truck were crushed, most likely because LTL and load moved several times
My household goods still haven't been delivered, I'm losing money due to their lack of communication, and all said and done it's looking like they are not going to be the least expensive option when the final bill comes.
I own and operate an engineering consulting business, and I was awarded a contract in another city across the country. I contracted Colonial to move items from Nevada to Louisiana. Communication was fine at first. The end of my expected pickup window came and went, and not only had my house in Nevada been packed and moved, buy I also couldn't get updates no matter how hard I tried. After over a week past the quoted window pickup finally occurred, but the subcontractor that colonial used had no idea what I had contracted and paid for. What should have been a 1 hour pack and ship turned into an 10 hour ordeal over the phone.
My original delivery date was prior to July 7th. I received a call July 9th saying my delivery would happen on July 14th. I took the day off (resulting in a significant loss of income) on the 14th only to be told that is not my delivery date. It took me several emails and multiple phone calls to get that information.
To say I am frustrated is an understatement. I understand schedule slip and things happen, but the lack of communication is inexcusable for a professional service. I recommend you spend the extra money and book with a more reputable company.

Zero stars
I don’t want to even give one star to this company. However, I was forced to do it to get to write a review.
I did my research. I asked all the right questions and I was lied to over and over and over again. This was the absolute worst moving experience I have ever had. They withheld my items until I paid the balance in full, which was not anywhere close to what we had agreed-upon, what I had signed at pick up. They contracted my move out, I never saw the semi that I was promised my belongings would be moving in. At delivery, late Sunday night, two men were hired to unload my 26 foot box truck, literally tossed my belongings into my storage unit. It is unsafe in there, I had to hire another crew, to come and remove everything and repack. This is what I found out numerous pieces of my expensive furniture has been broken. Items that our family heirlooms that are irreplaceable are shattered. My boxes were marked clearly with bright, red fragile stickers, and they were on the bottom of a stack of boxes in Furniture on top of them. I wish I could share photos here because it is absolutely unbelievable. I have contacted the company and I spoke to someone that claims to be an account resolution manager. I have yet to hear back from her regarding my concerns. I sent the company an email with the specifics, and again I have yet to hear back. Their communication is very poor. I was lied to, overcharged, and left to spend even more money just to be able to safely have my things stacked in storage. Do not use this company. I will be contacting an attorney, I will file complaints with the federal motor carrier for both Colorado and Arkansas, and I have already posted a review on the BBB.

Their ratings are bad because your service is not good.
Their ratings are high because survey comes already filled out and cannot be change. My experience was terrible and their account manager could care less. Delivered 3 days passed date, was told more than once that truck was on the road which was not true my air tags informed me where they were. I would get a call telling that in fact truck was not on the was more than once.Do not use this company.
The customer service was great! Great communication with drivers and company. The move from state to state went so smoothly. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!
Overall, the experience was well handled and the movers in both sides of the move were amazing. What I was unhappy about was… I had asked about odds/ends as to whether they needed boxing. I was told NO. So, not ALL items were in a box. There was a huge charge on my part for that erroneous information. Being a single person working with a moving company, I had no idea.
I’m not even sure where to begin. We moved from the Northeast to the Southeast and found Colonial on Forbes after our friends used another company and had a terrible experience making the same exact move. From quote to delivery these teams walked us through the process, explained everything clearly and thoroughly. They weren’t pushy and were patient with us while going through our inventory. They explained the costs and the importance of an accurate inventory. We went room by room, box by box. We had to reschedule pick up and add on short term storage after our plans changed. Colonial helped us all along the way. The guys that arrived to load our stuff were kind and helpful. They took extreme care handling our things and loading them onto the truck. They were careful not to mark up or damage any walls too. The crew that delivered our stuff took equal care and were very helpful to put things where they went. We can’t thank Colonial Van Lines enough for making this experience amazing and stress free! If I am to make just one important call out, we did pack our own boxes, but Colonial requires that any furniture with glass be covered in cardboard. They will charge a small additional fee at pick up for this extra packaging step. They will add up your inventory, so be sure to be very detailed in your inventory list before the movers arrive. It’s super easy to call them and make changes to understand any impact to pricing long before they arrive.
The packing crew who packed and picked up our stuff was excellent as well as our driver who delivered our stuff. They all took great care!!!

Disappointed
After the initial contact and first drop-off (drivers were great), everything went bad fast. We had a car scheduled for pickup, but the pickup didn't arrive. Tried reaching the company for days without success. When we finally reached customer service, no one could tell us when or if pickup would happen. Had to cancel and get another company.
Personal attention, especially from driver. Friendliness of both teams--wonderful, attentive, respectful. Staff at corporate office was top-notch as well.
Stay away from Colonial . They are horrible. My furniture arrived damaged and when I created a claim they offered
$ 388. I refused it and informed them my furniture is much more valued than $ 388. There final offer was $ 600 I took it because didn't want this to drag. The movers that packed my furniture requested a tip which I didn't have to be reminded . One of the guys offered Zelle and $ 30 per guy I said yeah right. The sales guy gives you a good schpeal but then refers you to their Problem team when one complains. Never never will I ever used colonial and yopu should either

Colonial Van Lines were easy to work
Colonial Van Lines were easy to work, very thorough and did a great job overall!
The movers were top-notch, kind, resourceful, and professional. Unfortunately, an item was damaged during the transit. I have tried to contact the company via phone, through email, and on their website. I have not received any follow up response in two weeks. I am disappointed and will not recommend them until/unless this is resolved.
