I'm an independent artist and have been trying to resolve a serious distribution failure with DistroKid for over three weeks with no result. I'm on the Ultimate tier, which is proving to be the worst value for money I've ever experienced from a service. One of my albums (UPC: 883005414931) has been missing from YouTube Music and my Official Artist Channel for 27 days. A second release on the same label (UPC: 882321215819), by another artist I manage releases for, has the same problem — live on Apple Music and Spotify within hours, still missing from YouTube nearly two weeks later. I've been through four separate support cases and every reply repeats the same vague line about "ongoing ingestion issues," resubmits the release, and asks me to wait again. Basic questions — the actual YouTube error code, whether an escalation has genuinely happened, why a release with active Content ID (meaning YouTube has already ingested the audio) is still being blamed on "ingestion" — have gone unanswered every time. I've twice explicitly asked for this to be treated as a formal complaint and escalated, and both requests were ignored. Paying for the top-tier plan and still getting this level of service, with no real explanation and no timeline, is simply not acceptable. Would appreciate this actually being looked at by someone who can give a straight answer and can get things sorted.
Really easy to use and very quick to upload your music to multiple sources. Great service for the price and can highly recommend.
I released public-domain hymns (composers died in the 1800s) with my own arrangements. DistroKid charged $180 in cover-license fees — but their OWN help article says public-domain songs need no cover license and should be marked "original." This is a billing error (Ticket #4344743, UPC 882093352828). I've contacted support via email and chat for over a week with ZERO resolution. I only want the wrongful charge refunded and the release reclassified. 9+ days of silence on a documented error is unacceptable.
i started with .ai music last year and now the new policy banned me and also not allow me to mark the music is made with .ai . So no chance to recover as the option was not there last year. `not fair as for new artits they can mark is .ai made and all is `ok. So moved too other distributior. now all my songs should never be deleted but here is also a catch. Nevermind, very dissapointed.
Absolutely terrible support. Higher fees than competitors for content ID as well. It is straight leeching for small, independent artists. I suggest alternatives such as TooLost or EmuBands.
Absolutely the worst customer service i have ever encountered! Have not uploaded my latest releases to youtube , near impossible to get an actual person to speak to. When you do they say they will sort the problem only to then do absolutely nothing! Then ignore multiple emails over a 3 week period ! Problem still not resolved and now no one will answer my emails to support. Sat on live chat for 2 hours only to be disconnected as soon as the person came on, another time told it would be 50-60 minute wait came back after 15 to find a message saying they had ended the chat as i’d gone Totally unacceptable and I will not be renewing for another year
Dropped my latest track through here and the upload went through super fast without any weird glitches. But use the actual desktop site instead of the mobile app when uploading stems and metadata, because the app interface is way clunkier to navigate. Still gets your music on all streaming platforms quick.
I’m very happy with my experience using DistroKid! The process of uploading and distributing my music was simple and smooth. As an independent artist, seeing my first release reach music platforms was a very special moment for me. The platform is easy to use and everything is explained clearly. Thank you DistroKid for helping independent artists share their music with the world. Highly recommended! ❤️🎶
I have been with DistroKid for around three and a half years, and this experience has completely destroyed my trust in the company. I have a catalogue of around 900 songs, built over more than 23 years of making music. Some of that catalogue came from a previous distributor, but it represents decades of work, my artist identity, my name and the audience I built around it. In June, I discovered that my releases were no longer reaching the stores and were simply remaining stuck in processing. I contacted DistroKid repeatedly, sending four emails and making multiple support requests to try to find out what was happening. I was effectively ignored until 4 August, when I finally received a response telling me that my releases had supposedly been rejected due to “editorial discretion” and that stores were no longer accepting releases from me through DistroKid. There was no meaningful explanation. No specific store was identified. No specific release was identified. No evidence was provided. No genuine reason was given. No meaningful appeal process was offered. I subsequently discovered that other artists around the world appear to have received essentially the same copy-and-paste response. If this is genuinely a decision made by individual stores, why aren’t artists being told which stores made the decisions and what the actual issue was? My music is genuine music. I have written and produced thousands of pieces of music throughout my career. The only technology I have used is AI vocals in some productions. I specifically discussed this with DistroKid approximately a year ago and was told that this was permitted under their AI music policy because the music itself was not entirely AI-generated. I have also had concerns regarding my royalties. On occasions, I have gone to withdraw royalties only to find that amounts I expected to receive had changed or were no longer showing as expected. I have seen what appeared to be thousands of pounds worth of royalties ultimately amount to only a few hundred pounds. I cannot prove from my current information exactly why this happened, which is precisely why I believe DistroKid should provide a proper accounting of my royalty statements and deductions rather than leaving artists guessing. What makes this even more frustrating is that DistroKid has restricted my ability to distribute new music while still expecting me to maintain a paid subscription. I am not prepared to continue paying an annual subscription for a distribution service that I am apparently no longer permitted to use. I therefore intend to dispute the subscription payment with my bank for the unused portion of the service, as I still have approximately six months remaining on my annual subscription. After 23 years of building a music career, I now feel that I have lost my artist identity, my catalogue and the name I spent years building, without being given a proper explanation, meaningful appeal or even basic information about what supposedly happened. I cannot recommend DistroKid based on my experience. Artists spend years building their catalogues and reputations. We deserve transparency, proper communication and meaningful support when something this serious happens. A generic copy-and-paste response is not good enough when you are dealing with someone’s entire musical career.
I think I like it and it’s easy work to do here on this platform
I'm an independent artist based in Chile (Gunyrock) I cancelled my DistroKid subscription in July 2025 and they kept billing me for two more years. In July 2025 I paid USD 49.00 for the Leave a Legacy extra on my release MI PROPIA VERDAD (receipt 557670313). That extra exists for one reason: to keep your music live on streaming services after you cancel your subscription. Nobody pays USD 49 for permanence and then keeps paying the annual fee too. I bought it in order to cancel, and I cancelled. I never received a confirmation email. Not in my inbox, not in spam, not anywhere. So I had no way to know the cancellation hadn't gone through. It hadn't: Jul 16, 2025 - USD 24.99 - receipt 558076773 Jul 19, 2025 - USD 12.00 - receipt 559541271 Jul 16, 2026 - USD 24.99 - receipt 808671146 Jul 19, 2026 - USD 12.00 - receipt 810559859 Identical dates, two years running. That's the auto-renewal cycle running untouched. I'm outside the US, so these appear as small international USD charges on my statement, which is why it took me this long to catch. Then I tried to get help, and this is the part that should concern anyone considering DistroKid: - Their Ada chatbot returns "This bot has been disabled." I tested it in Chrome and Firefox. - Their support form produced no ticket number and no reply. - Their support email auto-replied that the inbox is not monitored, pointing me back to the website that doesn't work. On July 31, 2026 I cancelled again. I reached their page confirming "Your account has been cancelled" and was signed out. Once again: no confirmation email. I have a timestamped PDF of that page and screenshots of everything above. So the only mechanism they offer to stop being billed gives you no verifiable record that it worked — and I now have two years of evidence that sometimes it doesn't. I've had no response from DistroKid to date, and I've had to escalate to a chargeback through my card issuer. My advice to anyone using DistroKid: after you cancel, screenshot the confirmation page immediately, and check your bank statement on your renewal date the following year. Don't assume the cancellation worked just because the page said so. Also check the EXTRAS section on each release — those renew annually and separately, and cancelling your membership does not appear to stop them. To be fair: my 2023 and 2024 charges were legitimate and I have no complaint about those. The distribution service itself worked. The problem is what happens when you try to leave. I'll update this review if DistroKid resolves it.
**Formal Complaint Against DistroKid** I am submitting this complaint because I have been treated unfairly by DistroKid despite being a paying customer. This is **not an isolated incident**. The same issue has now affected **three different DistroKid accounts**, and none of them has received a clear explanation for the actions taken against them. I have spent **more than $200** on DistroKid subscriptions and services. As a paying customer, I expected transparency, fair treatment, and proper customer support. Instead, I have been ignored and left without answers. I opened support ticket **#4478246** and contacted DistroKid support multiple times, but I still have not received a proper explanation or a fair resolution. My case has never been properly reviewed by a real person. I have attached screenshots and all relevant information to help with the investigation. I respectfully request: * A complete manual investigation of all three accounts. * A clear explanation of why these actions were taken. * Restoration of my accounts if no policy was violated. * If DistroKid cannot resolve this issue or provide the service I paid for, I request a **full refund** of all the money I have paid. I am not asking for special treatment. I am simply asking for fairness, transparency, and the customer support that every paying customer deserves. I hope this complaint encourages DistroKid to finally investigate my case and provide a proper resolution.
DistroKid has caused me serious problems for the second time. They removed all of my releases and made my account unusable without providing any clear reason or evidence. Instead, they only sent a generic email. Even though I can no longer use the service I paid for, they have not refunded my membership fee. Their support team has provided no meaningful explanation or solution. After experiencing the same issue twice, I have completely lost trust in DistroKid. I am requesting a full refund, and I encourage other users to be cautious before using this service. I also believe that many of the positive reviews about this company do not reflect genuine customer experiences. In my opinion, a number of them appear unrelated or unnatural, giving the impression that they may have been posted by bots or by the company itself.
Easy no clumsiness just tunes straight to the world I’d recommend Gerry Daley
Perfect flawless service.
