Drake user since 2007/2008. The usability gets easier each year. New features such as the portal, workflow, and DrakePay have been added in recent years to streamline and save time. Of course these features add cost and I do find it a little expensive for the number of returns that I prepare, but I haven't seen anything as easy to use that costs less. As a tip, I always purchase at the lowest price before May 31. Tech support (as well as other departments) is very responsive. DrakeCPE makes it easy, reasonably priced and convenient to obtain and keep records of CPE credits each year. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Drake.

Strong customer service
I have been using Drake Software for 8 years and recommend it over some of the other choices. I loved how quickly the customer service phones were answered (less than 2 rings in past years). However, this past year there was a longer wait with less trained staff answering the phones. But this was still much better than what others offer. Perhaps I was a bit spoiled. For the cost and customer service it is much better. Some quirkiness on the calculations though.

Great Support
I switched to this software a number of years ago when my prior software company failed to provide helpful problem service. Drake has been great and has helpful people answer the phone when I have had a problem. I have used both the Pay-per-return service and the online software service. There was a learning curve and if you only like dealing directly with the IRS forms it may not be for you. But I have found it extremely helpful. Often prompting me to another form or adding information when needed. I have been doing taxes for over 30 years and have used numerous software providers. Drake gives me access to every state I have ever needed to use without further cost. Drake provides VERY good service at a reasonable price.

Drake user for 30+ years. Great when owned by Drake family, gone downhill somewhat after buy out. Program froze up a lot this year, telephone help is mostly useless, voice mail from hell is time consuming, stupid "exit without saving" on the exit button needs to be eliminated, price is getting a little much compared to a couple years ago. Too close to retirement to change software.

Drake user for 30+ years
Drake user for 30+ years. Much better program before selling out. We used to get help on the second ring, now it's voice mail from hell. Most responders are not much help. The stupid exit without saving on the exit tab while in a return needs to be eliminated. I had to reenter information several time due to this. Program is freezing up often, never had this before. I used to recommend Drake with a 10, now I'm down to 8.
