I purchased an engagement ring from Friendly Diamonds after finding a design and diamond combination that I was very happy with. The website advertised the ring as being heavily discounted, with a stated saving of around £2,500. I paid £3,234 for the ring.
Shortly after ordering, I was informed that the diamond I had selected had already been allocated to another customer. To their credit, they provided a slightly larger replacement diamond of a similar specification at no additional cost.
Unfortunately, that was the start of a series of problems.
When the ring arrived, it was not the design I had ordered. I had specifically chosen a hidden halo setting, but the ring I received was a plain solitaire with no hidden halo. When I raised this issue, I was offered £100 compensation to keep the incorrect ring. Given that it was not the product I had ordered, I declined and returned it to be remade.
After waiting approximately another month for the ring to be corrected, I finally received the revised version. However, upon inspection, I noticed damage and imperfections to the claws holding the diamond. While some may consider this minor, after spending £3,234 on an engagement ring and already experiencing multiple issues, I expected the finished product to be flawless.
At that point, I lost confidence in the quality control process and requested a full refund.
The refund process unfortunately added further frustration. Although I had paid £3,234, I initially received a refund of only £2,695. I had to contact Friendly Diamonds to query the missing £539 and request that the remaining balance be refunded.
I do want to mention that Katie, who handled my case, was professional, polite and kept me updated throughout the process. She was always responsive when I had questions and did her best to help. My frustration is not with her personally, but with the repeated mistakes, delays and quality control issues that occurred throughout the order.
Buying an engagement ring should be an exciting experience. Instead, this became the most stressful purchase I have ever made. Between the incorrect diamond allocation, the wrong ring being manufactured, the lengthy delays, the quality concerns, and now the refund discrepancy, I cannot recommend Friendly Diamonds based on my experience.

Pear/Oval Pendant & Necklace

Thank you for speedy response and striving to correct any issues I had. Delivery is definitely out of hand by the seller, but I wish there was more freedom for the buyer to make adjustment themselves regarding package drop off/pick up dates. With the different delivery date and requirement for signature, it was difficult because FedEx will not make changes unless informed by the retailer. The necklace diamond and the sparkles are just truly remarkable. I did not see any blemish to the stone and the setting it was placed into. I had it placed in a platinum setting. Fair warning, it does have some weight because of that. 1 carat was pretty big and having two of oval/pear pendant combo setting really adds to the fancy. I still wish the necklace chain had a bigger circular attachment because it's really hard to clip. However, I appreciate the seller providing me some credit, so I have the freedom to find me an end clip that will work best for me. Also, a little bumped that the jewelry came in, and still didn't have the IGI certificate that I paid for. That was weird. Although I got it, it was another hassle with fedex delivery/pickup.

Kind of disappointed. The free 1/2 carat with silver necklace looked better, clip looks sturdier and the diamond was shining better than the expensive one. I have photos but not letting me add.

The certification requested for your piece required additional processing time from the grading laboratory, which is why the shipment timeline was extended. Your order was shipped once the piece itself was completed and ready for delivery. I visited Friendly Diamonds’ showroom in NYC while there for a trip, looking to buy a pair of lab diamond earrings. This was my first interaction with FD. While there, I got a good sense for the quality of their stones and craftsmanship, both of which were very high. I had hoped to be able to buy in store, but didn’t quite find the configuration I was looking for, though Sunny Virani certainly did try, as we exchanged many emails exploring options. I ended up ordering a configuration that needed to be made from scratch, and that could not be fulfilled while I was in town, but the earrings arrived on time, were well packaged, came with the stones IGI certificates and were perfect.
I am so pleased with my experience, across the board, have already recommended them to others, and look forward to being a repeat customer.
