I was instructed to activate my…
I was instructed to activate my electricity service before my apartment application had been approved. After following those instructions, I discovered that I could not cancel the service once it became active. I was misled into opening an account that I may not even need. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, and the company’s handling of this situation is unacceptable. I would not recommend this provider based on my experience.

They demand control of your account before showing any prices
Gatby presents itself as a service that will help you compare electricity rates and determine whether it can save you money. That is not how the process worked for me. They collected my email address, home address, and personal information without clearly disclosing at the beginning that I would eventually be required to sign an authorization giving Gatby the ability to manage and change my energy provider. Only after they had collected my information did they reveal that I had to grant them that authority before they would show me a single provider, rate, contract term, or estimated savings. That is the problem. I am not going to give an unknown company control over my utility account before it has shown me what it is offering or demonstrated that it can actually save me money. A legitimate and transparent process would disclose that requirement upfront, show the available offer, and then ask for authorization after I decided to accept it. Instead, Gatby withheld a major requirement until the end of the process, after collecting my information. There was also no obvious way to cancel the process and remove the information I had already submitted. That feels intentionally designed to get customers invested in the process before revealing the real terms. Whether or not Gatby is technically a legitimate broker, this is a scam-like tactic, and it completely destroyed my trust in the company.
