Pleasant Cabin Crew, but Poor Catering and Extremely Slow Baggage Delivery
I travelled on an IndiGo flight from Sharjah (SHJ) to Amritsar (ATQ) on 6 October. While some aspects of the flight were perfectly fine, the overall experience was let down by the catering, cleanliness and especially the baggage handling on arrival.
I had pre-selected and paid for the “Meal of the Day”, but onboard I was told that the only option available was a chicken tikka sandwich. No alternative was offered. What was even more surprising was that I was only the second passenger to be served, yet they were already out of tea. If passengers are paying in advance for meals, the airline should ensure that the advertised meal and basic beverage choices are actually available.
The toilets were also quite dirty and did not appear to be cleaned or properly maintained during the flight.
On the positive side, the cabin crew were pleasant, courteous and seemed to be doing the best they could with the resources available. The seats and general cabin area were clean, and the rest of the onboard experience was comfortable and consistent with what I would normally expect from IndiGo.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the baggage experience at Amritsar Airport. It took almost one hour after landing for us to receive our bags. Baggage delivery was extremely slow—the conveyor repeatedly stopped, and even while it was running there were long periods when no bags appeared at all.
Waiting nearly one hour for baggage after a 3.5-hour flight is extremely frustrating and significantly affects the overall travel experience.
Overall, the flight itself was acceptable and the cabin crew deserve credit, but IndiGo needs to improve its onboard catering availability and work with the airport/ground-handling team to ensure much faster and more efficient baggage delivery.
I flew LHR to BOM in December when Indigo had just started that route and I would say the experience was a 2.5/5. My flight was delayed for 30 minutes and when it was time for boarding there was no one, I say NO ONE to tell everyone that boarding was in zones and it was one big mess! And to make things worse, one passenger came on the plane DRUNK which delayed the flight for another 45-50 minutes! Then the entertainment was not a huge selection but that is with most long haul economy flights that's why I download what I am going to watch before flying but the screen itself was so laggy I gave up on it.
The food I have to say was the best I have had for an economy flight but desert could have been better (Air India's brownie I had 3 years ago was actually pretty good to be honest but main course . . . we don't need to talk about that because I felt really sick after that!) And do not take what they call the chef's special. It is basically a really bad pastry with awful filling this is a warning and you will love it if you like eating what others think is crap.
So on my return flight same thing about delay and zone boarding etc. So in a nutshell, do consider indigo as an option if you can but bare in mind it is a low cost airline so you may have similar problems to the ones said in this review. I sincerely hope Indigo can make the slight improvements to their service even though the drunk guy was not their fault.
P.S. Crew were really nice and friendly!
Indigo advertises claiming points up to 90 days in the past. At 60 days, indigo is not allowing me to claim. They are suggesting I didnt fly. Obviously Indigo has electronic records of all passengers on all flights. They tried and tried to disallow me. Not worth continuing to argue. Also, i only used my first and last name. I needed to use my full name, as seen on passport. Indigo will try anything to keep the customer second. I have other issues with Indigo, but not worth my time to complain.

20. As the seat belt signs were ON the flight assistant didn’t come to attend the problem. Had to call them many times then one flight assistant appeared after long time. Negligent staff. The staff are careless, fail to meet the standard of customer service and expectations, putting passenger into potential safety risks.
21. The cabin crew was not friendly and welcoming. Example - Didn’t bother to apologise for the inconvenience caused, saw customer informing about an issue as a problem, cabin crew didn’t bother to tell why water start to drop from above compartment (or the reason behind it), didn’t take the issue seriously, no one came later to see what the problem was or what was the cause of the problem. No one came to wipe the water and clean those seats. No one came to give tissues or napkins to wipe the water and clean those seats. Again, very poor customer service wherein IndiGo’s service fails to meet customer’s expectations. Customer is left to feel neglected and undervalued. Very poor handling of customer needs.
22. Uncomfortable travel because was worried entire journey about that issue and this developed into trauma.
23. Very scary, bad and frightening experience flying with IndiGo.
24. Nightmare - was a night flight and couldn’t get sleep as was afraid and worried about the water leak issue during all flight journey.
25. Both the aircrafts were very old and shook a lot during turbulence.
26. On top of that in both the flights there were broken amenities. The digital entertainment system was faulty, poor-quality display. Example when played movie the video quality was bad (hurting to eyes) and voice quality was bad.
27. In both the flights cramped seating - old aircraft and not enough leg space. Uncomfortable seating. Food tray was small, couldn’t fit tray and drink.
28. These experiences led to significant anxiety, fear of flying, and lingering trauma. Return journey was within a week or so.
29. In both flights seats were dirty, not well cleaned and old leather seats.
30. These experiences caused stress, fear and a lasting dread of flying. Leading to discomfort and anxiety.
31. During both journeys the announcements were not clear and audible. Poor communication from airlines. Disturbing, irritating and sharp noises during announcements. Also, the announcement volume was very low or very loud. Especially unclear during communicating/announcing key information which is very vital and important during the international travel.
32. In flight 6E 2 there were disturbing passengers. The person sitting behind my seat was singing loudly, shouting and kicking my seat.
33. In Return flight there were comfort issues, very warm then very cold temperatures, disturbing passengers.
34. Intense fear induced because of 6E 2 flight journey.
35. In both flights second meal served was just a snack and not a full meal. Usually when I fly with Air India, British Airways and other popular airlines – the meals are served twice and both full meals.
36. The water that leaked from above compartment of my seat was not clean as I later suffered from severe infection on my thighs. Had to travel with wet cloths and stay in wet cloths for entire journey which is around over 10 hours. This resulted into rashes on my thighs and later into very itchy and bad skin infection. Severe infection that lasted for months wherein I couldn’t walk, burning sensations inside thighs and it was contagious so spread to other parts of my body resulting into many rashes, marks, dark spots, itchiness, burning sensations and red swollen rashes. I couldn’t wear certain cloths as a slightest touch to my skin resulted into very bad suffering. IndiGo is careless about health hazards to passenger. Disappointed flying with IndiGo. I doubt flight was inspected as it was neither clean and also had dirty water leak from above compartment.
37. When I contacted them about these issues, they were not professional. Took it very lightly. Didn’t bother about severity of issue, were hiding and trying to cover the issue. Had to do many follow-ups but no good customer service.
38. The customer service person that we spoke to on phone was showing lack of interest in this issue, blamed me instead regardless of me sending the evidences that are photos of water leak from above compartment, wet seats and sharing other details about my flight travel. She was thrashing me on phone call and not allowing me to speak. Very unfriendly, angry and aggressive staff.
39. IndiGo is not reliable and provides bad customer service – they don’t do reward points either so no customer retaining programme so careless.
40. Unsafe travel with IndiGo.
Very poor customer service especially ground staffs are very unprofessional. Extremely Rude behaviour of Sai and Biswas at port blair(ixz) airport is the reason i would not take any indigo flights further.

Extremely disappointing experience with IndiGo after an international flight cancellation
* Our international IndiGo flight was cancelled, and the earliest alternative IndiGo could arrange was around 24 hours later.
* At the airport, I specifically asked IndiGo to arrange accommodation, transport and meals. I was told they could not provide them.
* Instead, IndiGo issued INR 2,000 IndiGo vouchers per passenger. I explicitly said I did not want vouchers and would prefer the equivalent value in money, but this was ignored. After this experience, I have no intention of using IndiGo again, making these vouchers effectively useless to me.
* Our original transit was only 2½ hours. The replacement itinerary left us with a 7-hour transit at Mumbai airport for which no meals/ lounge/ other arrangements were provided
* When I myself approached them- I was sent from one IndiGo counter to another for around. Eventually, an IndiGo employee Mr Tejas sent me to a restaurant (Vaango) and said he would message them for authorisation to provide our meal. So after 45 mins call to Indigo plus 1 hour of chasing Indigo guys in the airport, when we finally reached the restaurant, no such message had been received. The restaurant employee eventually spoke to his own boss, who kindly agreed to provide us with the meal. This was not arranged by IndiGo. Nor any Lounge/ room service was provided.
* After returning to the UK, I contacted IndiGo and was told that although additional compensation was not being offered, reasonable expenses could be considered if I provided receipts. I provided the receipts I had retained, including a dinner receipt and airport taxi receipts.
* IndiGo then introduced another requirement: bank statements showing the corresponding transactions- I explained that the taxi expenses and dinner bill had been paid in cash, so there are naturally no corresponding bank transactions. I was then told that IndiGo could not do anything about it.
* I was never advised at the airport that I needed to retain specific evidence for every expense, nor was I told that cash payments would subsequently be rejected without bank evidence. We use cash in India to avoid uk card related transaction fees.
In short: cancelled international flight → 24-hour delay → no accommodation, transport or meaningful meal assistance → 7-hour transit instead of 2½ hours → hours spent chasing IndiGo staff → even the promised restaurant arrangement was not communicated → expenses later supported with receipts → then a new bank-statement requirement was introduced for cash payments - no reimbursement for basic expenses claimed
This has been an extraordinarily frustrating experience, not only because of the cancellation itself but because of the way IndiGo has handled the passenger afterwards. I would not choose IndiGo again and never recommend them to anyone!
one of the worst airline. they should not operate overseas at all. i had the booking for business class and they changed my booking without consulting me to the economy, with two long stayovers and also reducing my luggage to just 23 instead of 46 and then in India to 15kg. they gave the reason an operational issues which is a damn lie and nothing. they are not fit to operate at all or atleast to UK or other international destinations. I had to cancel my ticket and still waiting for the refund. i had to now book another airline at much higher costs because of this stupid airline. DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH THIS USELESS AIRLINE.
Worst airline services
We are paying the money for services and end of the time we can't get that ..
At least check your reviews and try don't repeat them again..
Soo shame on your airline services...
Stop your services in india and open new services in Pakistan, it's better for your airline services to open in Pakistan
Indigo might be one of the cheapest airlines, but that doesn't mean their staff could behave cheap. I took a flight from coimbatore to hyderabad on 1st of oct. After the flight landed, we were in the bus going to the airport. One of the cabin crew staff was cutting her nails in the bus. She even carried on trimming her nails as well.
This was one of the most disgusting scenarios in flight experiences.
Horrible. They managed to lose our bag for FIVE days. That might have been excusable, but they KEPT LYING about it being on the next flight. So they had us running back and forth between the airport and the hotel and just kept on peacefully lying. Avoid avoid avoid
Online check in didn’t work because there were multiple flights on my booking? There is no way to get in touch with a human online. I was stressed having to manually check in at each airport with hugely long lines bc they don’t have enough staff. They mishandled my luggage so some of my items broke. Not worth saving money
IndiGo – International service was unsatisfactory.
1. IndiGo – International service was unsatisfactory.
2. My uncle passed away so I had to book flight at short notice to attend his funeral in Mumbai. This was my first time travelling with IndiGo – International.
3. Starting with booking tickets, when I made the final payment on IndiGo website the page after taking the payment details gave error. So, I was clueless as to whether the ticket was booked or I must re-start the booking process. The website is not customer centric and not user friendly at all.
4. I usually do web check-in online for all my flight travels, this was my first time with IndiGo and for both flight journeys they didn’t let me web check-in online as the web check-in form had a bug and didn’t let international passengers web check-in online.
5. The web check-in form was not user friendly, stressful to fill, retained the previously filled values, didn’t allow to reset and revisit the questions/see questions. Web check-in form was not up to web standards of accessibility and visibility. It was not easy to use.
6. I had to try filling the form few times online then downloaded the app on my phone to web check-in from app then tried to chat with customer service agent online then had to take help to phone the customer service agent to help/assist with the web check-in. This led to having to repeat information multiple times. It was full of hassle. A simple and easy task that usually takes me less than few minutes took more than couple of hours.
7. The entire web check-in process was very stressful and unsatisfactory and unacceptable. Very poor customer service. Customer is left to feel neglected and undervalued. Very poor handling of basic essential such as web check-in.
8. During a flight journey especially international flight journey – the basic expectation is to web check-in. Their web check-in system has a flaw. It also doesn’t let OCI card holders to enter their OCI card details and only option is to enter visa details. Bad customer service. The online customer service agents are not well trained and have no idea what OCI card is. This shows how negligent staff is and untrained as surely there are so many international travellers to India who are OCI card holders and the flaw in web check-in system doesn’t let them web check-in online. The agents are careless, fail to meet the standard of customer service and expectations, causing damage, waste of precious time and financial loss.
9. The automated system is also not user friendly and easy to use as it takes ages to reach a human agent for getting answer to a basic simple query such as web check-in.
10. When web check-in is not allowed for international passengers then this must be made clear to the international passengers before advertising tickets. I only came to know about this when I was about to web check-in a day before the onward journey. It is disappointing and bad customer service.
11. During both journeys that is onward and return journey I had to reach airport earlier than usual to allow extra time for check-in at airports.
12. The IndiGo airport staff at both the airports London and Mumbai were not providing good customer service. The staff were not kind, friendly and clear of communication, especially key information. Also, the Mumbai airport staff showed lack of interest and lack of knowledge of check-in process, looked like untrained staff.
13. Starting with flight 6E 2 from London Heathrow to Mumbai – the airport ground staff during check-in offered me a window seat.
14. When flight took off - water started to drop from the above compartment - wet 2 seats. Wet my cloths.
15. When called for assistance they took several minutes to attend. Had to call for assistance many times and they appeared after lot of time. This wait time scared a hell out of me as I have never heard or experienced something like this before. More importantly I was very worried as I was unsure of how severe this defect is.
16. My first thought was, is this flight fit to fly as I had never experienced this before.
17. Was scared from the time the issue starts that whether an emergency situation will be called. Whether the flight was fit to fly with this defect. how severe this defect is. Are the cabin crew already aware of this defect? Or is this the first time? Whom should I inform about this issue earliest possible.
18. If cabin crew already aware of this defect, then why was this seat allocated to passenger? The cabin crew showed reckless disregard for safety and were least bothered or worried about it. Failure to follow safety procedures. Inadequate, slow and faulty performance of duties. Bad customer service.
19. Turning standard travel into high-stress events
I fly Everytime with Indigo Airlines,I love their Hospitality Specially Crews they are Always Beyond on your Service Comfort Helpings I wanna mentioned Her Name Apsara Thapa with flight number 6E94 flying from Riyad To Hyderabad She was so Beyond on her Journey. But i have disappointed that this is my 2nd Time that whenever i get Luggage After Departure in luggage service Its became 2nd time that my Luggage Cover is damaged This is not acceptable at all 🤨I would like to say that please do take care of customer Stuff when we are choosing you with your hospitality but doesn’t mean u throwing our luggage,Luggage Cover are Torn when we receive Please do look after It Thankyou.
I got charged twice for a single flight Delhi to Dharamshala back in May.
Despite showing all the proofs to their ridiculous customer service I am still not getting my refund.
We exchanged more than 80 emails most of which were just useless copy and paste replies from their side.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.
APPALLING SERVICE AND SCAMMERS.
Indigo is selling flights which they cancel shortly after they have taken your money , and then say they have refunded you, but instead seem to be paying it into an employees's bank account. I say this because the card details they refunded it to, are not my details. Have reported the full details to back my claim up, and they are turning a blind eye. I suspect this involves senior management. Have sent in excess of 50 emails. Still waiting for my refund, which they say they have made to card ending 3518. That is not my card.
indigo abandoned our 11-person group before departure. Our departure time was 9:45, and we reached the airport around 9:01; for only a 15-minute delay, they didn't give us boarding passes or check our luggage. We contacted their airport help center; they showed bad attitudes and didn't help. For this reason, our entire trip ended very badly because we were foreigners and had to return to our country o that day.
Worst experience ever with a airlines. Never fly in this airline. Indigo stuffs are very rude, dont know how to greet or atleast behave, always thinking they are something. I visited with my parents and had the worst experience. I had 2 wheelchair, they only provided 1 and though we were 1st to come and check in but they make us do the boarding at last. We planned for meal after boarding which we failed to do because of their stupidity. Stupid airlines, stupid stuffs and stupid service. Never gonna book this airline ever.
Great job I’m I’m Gunjesh Kanpur to Goa flight today 26/09/2026 Kanpur airport best helping and Nice service and good mein caounter boding paas ticket counter Ayush Shurla 😀I’m fully happy full service good boy 🧒
Worst airline ever. Crew members are very rude across all indigo flights. They do not have proper justification for why the flight gets delayed. We will have our day planned based on what time we reach our destination and they just dont understand. Very inconsiderate. Crew members must really be trained properly to treat customers properly and be polite, one small question and they get triggered. Akasa air is so much better.
Hopeless staff, customer service, app, and website
Booked a flight transiting in Delhi. Indigo claimed they'd told me earlier one leg of the flight had been cancelled and that in fact they no longer even operated that route.
However neither their website nor app reflected the cancellation. Staff at the airport were completely unhelpful and uncaring and left me stranded to book a much more expensive last minute replacement.
It's taken dozens of emails and calls to get a refund. Even if this is the cheapest option, avoid.
