Love my new setting
I ordered a setting for my existing diamond. You do have to mail in your stone, which was very scary for me. The process took about 4 weeks but was very safe and I did verify the stone’s laser inscription # after I received my ring back. I wish I would have gotten more email communication updates during the 4 weeks however, I did get a email with tracking once the item shipped. The setting I chose turned out perfect. I was debating between going with a platinum crown with a yellow gold band but decided to do all yellow gold and I’m glad I did. I love how my ring turned out. Thank you, James Allen!

No inscription done after resizing…
When I initially received the engagement ring for my girlfriend, (now fiancée), the ring was so beautiful and eye catching and everything was as described. Unfortunately I had to get it resized to a half size more. When I shipped it (very thorough instructions and easy process), it was in the back of my mind that when I received the ring after the resize service, that they were going to forget my inscription. Sure enough, when I received the ring, there was no inscription. It is very unfortunate especially with the work order showing that the ring needed an inscription to be redone. I guess I’m not as bummed out about it since I had that feeling and the fact that it’s a complimentary service but I wanted to be proven wrong. The resize was spot on and it fit her like a glove but that inscription was the cherry on top. At this point I’m afraid of sending it back again and waiting again and with something else going wrong and I have to send it back… again. I guess I’ll just take my L on that. But other than that, the ring was exactly what she wanted.

The customer service at James Allen is fabulous. I am so grateful for the time the agent spent talking to me about sizing and engraving. Thankfully the size worked this time - my husband lost his last ring so we sent down a size - so there was no need to return, but I felt confident making this purchase, despite the possibility that it might need to be returned. Great Customer Care Team
After finding the perfect engagement ring I wanted, I found out it wasn't available in the size I needed. After getting frustrated, I was just going to keep looking elsewhere, but your service person was very supportive and recommended that I go through the design your own process. I assumed this was an attempt to get me to find a different ring. I cannot recommend James Allen (now Blue Nile) to anyone looking for a quality anniversary or engagement ring.
Last year, I purchased an anniversary ring for my wife. She absolutely loved it — unfortunately, the craftsmanship has been an absolute disaster. Over the past 9 months, the ring has been sent back THREE separate times because diamonds keep falling out.
The worst part? The last repair took THREE MONTHS. At this point, James Allen/Blue Nile has physically had possession of my wife’s ring longer than she has during the last 9 months. After finally getting it back from the most recent repair, another diamond fell out within TWO WEEKS.
Every time we send it back, we are charged another $35 shipping fee just to return a defective product they still cannot properly fix.
When we finally asked for a refund or replacement because we no longer trust the ring, their solution was simply: “We’ll repair it again and send it back.” That’s it.
What makes this even more frustrating is that we were essentially told the ring design itself is flawed — that it has too few prongs and weak prongs to securely hold the diamonds — and that this problem will likely continue. Their recommendation? Spend MORE money on an extended warranty.
At this point, my wife is afraid to even wear the ring because she expects another diamond to fall out.
We were even told we could “sell it if we want,” which basically sounds like passing the problem on to someone else. They also offered us a “good deal” on another ring, but with zero assurance that another ring wouldn’t have the exact same quality issues.
If you want to buy a loose diamond, maybe James Allen/Blue Nile is fine — I don’t see how they can mess that up. But if you are looking for a quality, durable ring setting backed by customer service that actually stands behind its products, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere

The item advertised on your website was not what was delivered. That was very frustrating. The website showed a 24" necklace, but it turned out to be 18". You should update your descriptions to be accurate.
Fortunately the returns process was easy and went smoothly, so that was appreciated.
