As of July 2025, I hired McKennon Law group in Newport Beach to appeal my LTD insurance denial. I had appealed my STD on my own, and succeeded, but I spoke to a couple of other firms regarding the Long Term Disability, and one referred me to McKennon. My first call with with Mr McKennon himself, and I immediately knew I was in good hands. He listened intently and answered all of my questions. From there, I got a very nice welcome letter and terms about what to expect. I was assigned to work primarily with Joe Hoff, who laid out a great plan and executed it in a professional manner. Communication was so clear, confident and helpful for the duration of the entire process. Joe Hoff put together a compelling and detailed appeal, which resulted in the denial getting overturned. The process took a few months. This firm is made up of subject matter experts that understand insurance, ERISA, and all of their tricks. I retained the McKennon Law Group PC to handle my case for long-term disability benefits against Hartford Life Insurance Company. My attorneys fought for me and helped me get the maximum monthly disability benefits after Hartford initially calculated a much lower monthly disability benefit payment. I finally received my full $6,000 monthly benefit when Hartford only planned to pay me $2,999 monthly, half of what I was entitled to according to the Policy. A HUGE thank you to the McKennon Law Group for bringing our (my wife and I) case to a positive settlement. The lawsuit process was completely new to my wife and I so we learned a lot and are more than just grateful for their work, their professionalism and their respect to us knowing we were unaware of the process, pitfalls, court proceedings and hang-ups from opposing counsel, mediation, all of that.. Prior to contacting MLG, we followed a required ERISA appeal requirement for pension relief for the hope of recovering a 50+% reduction in my pension after receiving it monthly for almost 8 years. Both ERISA appeals were denied by the company which I had retired from without their addressing the provided & clear evidence that was provided to me by the company itself during my tenure with them. After the ERISA appeal process was done, our last & only alternative was to file a civil lawsuit. We never wished to be part of a lawsuit, much less file one, & always tried out best to settle conflict by being factual & friendly by meeting them head on with the other party & coming to amicable agreements or understandings. We moved from the Los Angeles area 10 years ago and now live in Colorado. This case required the lawsuit to be filed in Los Angeles.The Corporations’ headquarters was in yet another state, which we know made the case difficult to manage. MLG and Nicholas West (our lawyer assigned to the case)) in particular, did an OUTSTANDING job in understanding the complexity of the case itself & in litigating it to a positive outcome for us. The team at McKennon Law Group is incredible! I suffer from a debilitating illness and was receiving benefits through my disability insurer until they erroneously terminated my benefits. That’s when I started searching for an ERISA disability attorney to represent me in an attempt to regain my benefits. I reside in the SF Bay Area, and still McKennon Law Group in SoCal seemed to be the best option. The distance was never an issue. They were always extremely responsive and accommodating. They filed and won an appeal to regain my benefits. Unfortunately, a short while later, the insurer again terminated my benefits. Luckily I had the McKennon Law Group on my team! Having no experience with seeking a law group for representation, our son turned to ERISA attorney reviews. McKennon Law Group’s reviews and then his initial contact with them, made this Group an obvious choice.
The firm’s prowess and discernment about his case, their confidence in their ability to successfully represent him, their ingenuity, and their competence were readily evident as a plan was developed that convinced our son to sign a contract with them.
For personal reasons this Group supported the involvement of us, our son's parents. His dad became his Power of Attorney in the event our son was not available. ERISA Disability Case Law; Prevail against Insurance Bullies
After working as an aerospace engineer (one company) for over thirty years, I was forced to stop working due to chronic back pain. I filed for long-term disability under my insurance policy with Aetna Life Insurance Company. I provided them with “credible, sufficient, and persuasive” (the Judge’s own words - later) medical documents supporting my disability, and yet they refused to approve my claim. I hired the best disability insurance law firm I could find, McKennon Law Group PC, to assist me, because clearly ‘going it alone’ was the wrong thing to do. However, despite a compelling appeal letter prepared by Bob McKennon, Aetna still refused to reverse its claim decision, forcing us to file a lawsuit under ERISA (because my disability policy through my employer). McKennon Law Group provided top notch service, regularly kept me updated, tempered my emotion, and expertly counselled all of my questions along the way. At mediation (part of the process), I was offered a modest settlement, but knowing that Bob and the McKennon firm attorneys were very experienced ERISA attorneys who believed in my case, who were not afraid to go to trial, and who spoke with candor while citing other specific case wins, they gave me the confidence to go to trial. At trial, the McKennon Law Group PC fiercely advocated on my behalf and convinced federal Judge Andrew Guilford that I was truly disabled and Aetna’s claim decision was wrong. I won my case. I was awarded all of the past due disability insurance benefits owed and was placed on active claim.
