What reviewers say
AI generated
Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently struggle with unresponsive support teams, difficult communication channels, and unhelpful handling of warranty claims when things go completely wrong. Consumers also encounter major ongoing issues with hardware quality, frustrating connectivity failures, and unexpected shipping delays that leave physical orders stuck or completely missing for weeks.
Some reviewers were happy with the nice products, beautiful lighting designs, and timely delivery services received initially without any major problems. Others noted that the equipment can look amazing once successfully installed, though achieving that operational state often requires considerable patience during the initial setup process.

Bought 4 packs of lines which have various design faults. Locking up so won’t respond and have to be restarted or odd flickering issue. Customer service now ghosting me. I’ve resorted to fitting a timer plug so it gets turned off and on everyday in the middle of the night to reset them. This is the only was I can get them to stay online.
Bulbs don’t last much longer than one year warranty. Customer service ask you to video of you resetting the bulb and do everything to avoid replacing the bulb.
8 bulbs purchased. Four bulbs faults…….not turning off, not turning on, turning on randomly and Adaptive lighting doesn’t work
This review concerns the Nanoleaf Hexagons and Nanoleaf's Android app.
Slow/Unresponsive, must often return to main menu to force refresh and have it reflect scene/brightness changes.
Unreliable, often loses connection and (apparently) hangs updating.
Updates often fail, must contact support to update manually.
No progress indicators, must wait indefinitely and hope it didn't hang (it often does).
Buggy auto-brightness, it does nothing or lowers and doesn't increase again.
Can't schedule to turn on/off with sunrise/sunset.
Otherwise good.
Beautiful scenes and colors and good support.
Update (04/02/2025): My Hexagons stopped working. Faulty controller. Nanoleaf shipped a new one for free.
Update (08/07/2025): My Hexagons fell. Had to reinstall them with Command tape. Nanoleaf offered no compensation.
I have had the Nanoleaf Shapes Triangles (9 set) for about 18 months. I love them!
Love the various mood lighting it can create and having fun with the 'Magic Scene.'
The app is glitchy and often the lights are 'unavailable' but resolved with manually turning on/off. Would not put me off buying.
Fiddly to get stuck and positioned on the wall but worth it.
I purchased some as a gift for someone who came and loved mine - they are also very pleased.
The product itself is great, but do not order directly from Nanoleaf! The product was listed as in stock, but delivered 43 days after ordering, with no updates at all from Nanoleaf.
I ordered some Nanoleaf shapes on 26th November, which were listed as in stock on their website. Their FAQs list 2 business days for delivery, with 3-4 business days in some cases.
After 10 days I sent an email to ask for a status update, and they informed me that the order was nearing completion and almost ready to ship.
12 days after that (22 days after placing the order), the item still hadn't shipped, so I reached out again. I had no reply to this email at all.
I reached out again 39 days after placing the order asking again for an update, why I hadn't received a reply to my previous email, and informing them that they were now in breach of UK trading laws (which requires delivery within 30 days unless otherwise agreed with the customer).
The next day (40 days after placing the order) I received an email saying that my order was dispatched, and it eventually arrived 43 days after the order was purchased.
I then finally got a reply to my emails the day after the order arrived, apologising for the delayed response (but not for the unacceptable delivery time) and stating that my order had now been delivered.
This level of customer service is unacceptable, and even breaches UK trading laws. Nanoleaf made no effort to keep me updated about delays to the order, and made no apology for failing to deliver within the required timeframe.
Even if you factor in the period they were closed over Christmas, it still took them longer than legally allowed to deliver the item. This was supposed to be a Christmas present, but ended up arriving 2 weeks after Christmas, even though I ordered with plenty of time for it to arrive.
I will not be ordering directly from Nanoleaf again, and, to be frank, I am reluctant to buy any more of their products at all!
Good appearance but the app is frustrating and unreliable.
Similar problems to those experienced by other users. The Essentials kit worked initially with the app via Apple Home, however they regularly show as ‘unreachable’ after which reconnection is difficult and time consuming.
The lights also do not work with Alexa as claimed, the QR code is not recognised by Alexa. I have now opted to use the switch panel connected directly to the lamps. The lamps themselves are attractive but overall a disappointing experience.
Dear Nanoleaf Customer Support,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the handling of my recent support request, ticket number 13387. Despite assurances from your representative Raphael, the issues I encountered with the non-functional discount code and additional shipping costs have not been resolved. As an EU customer, the discount code provided was ineffective, and the promise of a manual refund for the additional shipping costs has not been fulfilled. This situation is particularly disappointing given the expectation set by your promotional communications. I would appreciate prompt attention to this matter to rectify the situation as initially promised.
Sincerely,
Ulyana
Ordered a Christmas Gift direct from nanoleaf.me never arrived, no response from them on the status or anything. They were quick to take the $$...
BEWARE and stay away.
I’ve got a defect part of my Nanoleaf Lines and I reached out to the customer service of Nanoleaf for this problem.
They helped me really good and provided me a order for a replacement part for free.
The customer service is excellent and allot of company’s can learn from Nanoleaf in terms of customer service.
Thank you very much Nanoleaf!
Struggling with delivery, it has been a while and still there's no information where my package is, and the customer support does not exist. They have never replied to my messages - once after a week they asked me for my order number, I gave it to them, for them to disappear once again.
Avoid discounts in their website and at least try buying Nanoleaf in amazon, where at least you can track your products and have a decent customer support - I should have done that!
Tiles would not pair and will ruined my wall when removed
I'll start this with the cliché of, I really wish I'd read these reviews before buying the black triangle tiles. I spent three hours with someone from 'Tech Support' live chat trying to get them to pair, he eventually left the chat mid way through telling me what to do for the hundredth time, despite me telling him that I had done what he'd told me so many times. They just don't pair (my partner had some of their lights and had the same issue). So I was left with expensive lights that just gave random colours. Final straw was waking up to find some of the tiles had come away from the brackets and smashed down onto the desk. So I removed the bracket from the wall and the adhesive was so strong it took off layers of paint down to the plaster, this happened with a further three and ruined my wall. These are not fit for purpose.
This was all within two days of receiving the tiles, I sent them pictures as they asked and requested a refund, they really didn't want me to have this, and ignored my emails for a few days, and it wasn't until I got my credit card company involved that they arranged for me to return the tiles and refunded me. I'll still have to fork out to get the wall repaired.
I have a number of Govee products and can say that these are a delight, they work are simple to pair and look amazing.
Great when we first got them. A year down the line and they're more trouble than they're worth. Lights have stopped working with Google and only work in the app (we now just use them as dumb lights) - which takes ages to load and the elements hexagons have started coming in randomly. That's a shame because they're stuck to our wall, at least we got the ones that look nice when they're off. Support are useless. Figure it's just bad hardware and a poor company.
The products are ok but the customer service is just awful.
I ordered the cam direct from nanoleaf. DOA and they refuse to refund or accept a return. All they want to do is refer to their R&D department before they do anything.
It's now been two weeks with no progress.
Very poor.
Great products from a great company! Had many products from this company over the course of 5 years and only ever had one slight issue! Customer support were speedy and helped swiftly resolved the app issue I had. I've never had any issues with hardware and own over 15 Nanoleaf products from ranging from their Essentials range to their more expensive canvas and tiles. I could recommend it anymore to anyone else, looks super sleek in my house and always get compliments. The app is slightly annoying to use but with the new Matter update I no longer use the app! Just Google Home and everything works flawlessly. A+++++
Bought the nano leaf hexagons and In under a year they have broke. Customer service seems to be non existent and when the finally reply are advising me to do resets etc that I’ve tried numerous times before.
Do not buy!
I got the Elements a year ago, then from one day to another they stopped working.
The customer service first sent a new controller that didn’t fix the issue. Then they asked me to send them videos of me doing the soft and hard reset, and as this didn’t help either, they told me they will check it with R&D (???), and never got back to me.
I’ve been sending them reminders and have opened new cases for a few months now, they simply don’t answer and don’t care.
Such a disappointment that cost me 300€.
After 30 hours of trying to make them work with my iPhone I gave up and threw them straight in the trash. Terrible quality product. Do not buy if you want a smooth operation.
