Just lots pets posts and cranky old people complaining about random stuff
I had a personal account and a business account.I advertise my business to get dog training clients and I was always flagged for spam. I even paid for ads. They immediately took almost $150 out of my account and then blocked my account and refused to refund my money and gave me the runaround. They are horrible. I’ve lost so many clients because of this app bunch of assholes on it and people that have no respect for actual businesses or anybody.
I agree with the negative feedback from the many who have left feedback here. Next door coast to coast is TRASH. People trash talk and look down on one another. Illegal contractors and business rull this platform. I am a licensed business owner who kept getting flagged for posting my business on the business page.. When appealed, my account was shut down for inappropriate material and dangerous goods! I am a botanist. I grow and sell plants. I finally got indefinitely suspended for speaking up against people who were selling tamales on the business pages when I asked if they were licensed. This platform is BS.
I was on the app because I was looking for my son who went missing. 1 lady actually told me she might've seen him and called police. He had been on the news so she recognized him. She wouldn't communicate with me though. I kept searching on foot etc. When I rested I'd use next door to find anything that would help I got harassed poked fun at and delayed. He ended up dead. A completely heinous app.
Difficult guidelines and oversight. recently in trying to recommend businesses that we used based on posts asking for recommendations. We have been restricted from answering posts calling for recommendations. We get pop up messages telling us to create a business page which we do not have. A business that is. We do not own, not affiliated and are not rewarded for sharing recommendations of vendors & businesses we have used. It's crazy. now we are suspended for posting separate recommendations.
They enable scammers! Basically they actually ask you to verify your details and you have to jump through several hoops to be able to post. Then you get an email from some mug asking for the same details and to register a card. Because you do a lot of work to get the account you don’t really think much of it at first….. Then they ask for bank details. I noticed the scam and reported it. Admin DID NOT CARE. Disgusting really as I’ve read of lots of people falling for this. Honestly I wouldn’t bother with this app to list. Seriously pay attention to the reviews!
The MS Gulf Coast: Extremely arbitrary, subjective, and biased moderation. especially with respect to not enforcing nextdoor's policy of no discussions of religion and national politics. MAGA supporters break this rule with impunity, anyone who disagrees has comments removed or gets suspended.
They will not stop emailing me. Make it impossible to stop email. Never give them your info
Nextdoor's moderation system is frequently criticized for inherent bias because it relies heavily on local volunteer "Leads" and neighborhood reviewers rather than a centralized, neutral oversight team. This crowdsourced approach allows local cliques or hyper-active users to weaponize the platform's community guidelines, mass-reporting and voting to remove posts or suspend accounts simply because they disagree with a user's opinions, politics, or tone. Because the threshold for what constitutes "unneighborly" behavior is highly subjective, users often find their accounts restricted or banned for highly suspect reasons—such as a personal grudge, a minor disagreement over local politics, or simply not aligning with the dominant viewpoint of that specific neighborhood's moderation team.
This is the most racist site I have ever been on the administrators they pick and choose who to get rid of off of this platform and 100% of the people that are having trouble with racism our black people and guess who they delete the black people never the white people even though you read what the white people said about the black person. Somebody spread a rumor that I killed myself and my son in a car accident in Chicago and when I complained to next door they deactivated my account and said that I was a problem how was I a problem I'm not the one that spread the rumor about me so if you're not white do not get on here because they will delete you if you say something like oh I can't stand the TV show Frazier you're banned for life because somebody's going to complain. And I also want to add that I was getting numerous DMS by men wanting to have sex with me posing me in different positions videotaping me and when I complained the next door they just shut down my account but didn't take it serious. If you are a woman please protect yourself this is a dangerous sight and it's full of predators just looking for women. Needs to be shut down and there needs to be a thorough investigation I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin. And I've been going through this for 3 years with these people three years and they have done nothing.
What it does well: 1, provides real-time alerts for safety or emergency issues (power outage, police activity, etc); 2, provides community guidelines for behavior on the site. What could be better: 1, moderation could be more transparent. Reviewers can vote down content they don’t like even if it doesn’t violate the guidelines, and there is no reciprocity; 2, the search feature finds everything except what you’re looking for; Honestly, most of the problems with the app are the users, not the app. Many people treat it like Facebook or X / just making random posts about their thoughts that don’t contribute to the greater community. Social media culture dominates most conversations, where people pile on and the responses devolve into statements that would never be said to someone’s face. This is where, I believe, so many of the negative reviews come from. As a “Review Team” member, I can tell you many of the reviews here conflate the “Review Team” with suspending user accounts which is entirely false. Anyone can report a user account but only Nextdoor staff can suspend a user based on their investigation.
It's a very political place to post. People complaining about local government and lots of lost pets. Its total garbage from my viewpoint.
Wrost website, I tried to comment on someone's post, but it said i needed a bussiness page, but I don't have one, and don't want to create one. My son also try to create his small bussiness, but to be able to post he had to submit papers that he owns the bussiness.
In Los Angeles, the moderators are SO liberal that they will indefinitely suspend your account for even sharing news about cheating in a local election. Someone needs to look into the moderators at next door and make it a safe and welcoming place for ALL NEIGHBORS and not just the super liberal ones that use their power to silence opposing views.
This is company will spam you constantly. I kept unsubscribing and still received unwanted e-mails. Finally went to the web site and I need to turn off about 20 categories. The e-mails were only turning off one category. Very annoying.
I liked Nextdoor and used it for years and today while reading a post, a message came up “to upload my photos”. Could not say “no”, could not close, and the only way to get the message of my computer was to close it. What was that about?
Demanding your correct name and very little safeguards of your personal information makes this site a scammers goldmine. The Admin have NO clue when they are 600+ miles away.
Biased platform not for community like it suggest.
"Nextdoor Advertising Review — 1 Star After signing up for their $90/month advertising plan I quickly discovered there is NO phone support and NO chat support — email only. Despite submitting five to six forms of business verification including an official IRS EIN letter and bank statements showing both my business name and personal name they refused to verify my account. Every document that was accepted by Google, Bing, Facebook and every other platform was rejected by Nextdoor. When I decided not to renew I noticed an immediate and dramatic drop in my page visits. During my first 10 days I received 43 page visits — averaging 4.3 per day. In the 20 days following my cancellation notice I received only 6 visits — a 93% decline that occurred immediately and precisely after my cancellation notification. This cannot be attributed to organic fluctuation or coincidence. This pattern of throttling visibility after cancellation combined with impossible verification requirements and zero accessible customer support makes Next-door Advertising a complete waste of money for small businesses. Save your advertising budget and spend it somewhere that actually wants your business. — Scott Arrowood, Owner — Arrowood Drywall Service, Charlotte NC"**
We tried out their $90 a month advertising plan to get more local foot traffic to our shop, but they suddenly locked us out and disabled our account over a simple address mismatch. It is incredibly frustrating because there is absolutely NO phone support or live chat to talk to a real person, so you are just left missing out on potential clients while waiting days on a generic email reply. Wasting hard-earned money on an automated platform that treats Mom and Pop shops this way is just unacceptable. If a service can take your advertising budget but won't provide basic human customer care when their compliance bots glitch, they are a massive risk to small business operations.
