Garbage app
Garbage app. I use it from my computer. Have a business listing as well, but get very little work from NextDoor, and have no intention of paying them any money.
The endless posts about lost pets, well meaning grandparents warning about some internet scam, lame jokes, people too lazy to do even a little bit of internet research, and so on. It gets exhausting.
My account was temporarily suspended (Aug 03, 2026) because I criticized the new policy forbidding free self promotion when someone asks for a specific handyman recommendation. Now, I have to pay, to recommend myself to a consumer, and I have no intention of doing that.
I despise crossword puzzles. The groups on Facebook and NextDoor allow me to type an intelligent answer to an intelligent question every now and then.
I had absolutely no response
They pressed me for more expensive ads
Thankfully i did not bite
After 6 months I tried to cancel the AD
NEXTDOOR MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL
NO PHONE NUMBER
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
NO EMAIL
I BEG YOU
DONT BE A FOOL AND GIVE THESE AHOLES ANY MONEY
Absolutely disgusting horrible app. Extremely facist and communist. I've been banned for calling out bullies who are mean to others. I get banned. I've been banned for posting pics of my puppies. These aren't neighbors on this app, just a bunch of horrible rotten to the core maggots on a power trip wanting to judge everyone without real life consequences of getting what's coming to them. So many people who are so rude and mean to others it drives me crazy seeing how folks talk to others on social media. **** next door and all who run it
NEXTDOOR isnt "far left" NEXT DOOR isnt "far right" . NEXT DOOR is a GASLIGHTING WEBSITE. it protects ONLY lgbt, and middle eastern people. You cannot disagree with those sort of posts, OR THE ACTUAL EMPLOYEES (few as they are) will delete your account for good.
The reason that your accounts get suspended is due to the MODS gathering together and assisting and voting for you to be removed... THE APP BOTS do the rest. so if you live in a liberal area? the liberals will report ALL YOU DO as "spam" and get you booted. and the reverse is so if you live in a republican stronghold like Arizona.
BUT REGARDLESS OF BOTH PARTIES... if youre BLACK, youre going to be harassed by ALL sides. So if you show your face, or have a "black sounding" name? plan on being attacked for everything you say.
If you are in a republican area and are black?: you better speak AGAINST BLACK things, and love the flag and the army and all that.
STILL you will get whites reporting you however, if you become popular.
and the reverse.. if you are black, you'd better post a lot about support of homosexuals, or Women's rights and pro abortion, as if you work for the view.
AND EVEN THEN, if youre a black male? youre gonna be attacked...
the site gains its money from hatred of the few. there is a lawsuit against them for selling data. When you join the platform, you will start getting spam calls immediately.

This social media is beyond hypocritical
This social media is hypocritical and bias. I had my account suspended because I posted a rebuttal to an attack on Conservatives that was full of Liberal/Socialist talking points. I was accused of talking politics, which is against policy. Did I mention the posts I was responding to were all political? So it seems if the politics are aligned with their moderators, you're fine. But don't you dare contradict that with facts.

the app has it's purposes
the app has it's purposes, but the corporate customer service is awful and treats everyone normal as a criminal, and every scammer or spammer as a valued user
The neighbors are great, but admin sucks. God forbid u lose a pet and post a daily update about how neighbors are helping u find it, adding different pictures, and referencing a day# as a diary entry. All they know is the word "spam." Also, never tell anybody ur in need of anything, like food, furniture, or basic hygiene products, after ur spouse dies, u just got an apartment after living in a hotel for 6 months with 2 kids, had to be in the hospital for a week, and then ur car craps out. If admin had their way, it would be about paid ads, posting restaurant reviews, and gardens. Lucky they're anonymous. Unfortunately for ppl in need of local help, it's all that's out there right now. Wish a techy person would develop an app that really helps ppl.

Every community is biased
Funny because others have the opposite in their areas. Here, it's right leaning, people post hate speech about the poor, lies about crime. I called them out, not for politics, for lying. It's the bias of the local moderation team that is the problem - no matter what city you're in. Here, they comment on posts they should just remove, causing debates. I told someone they were lying, I was banned for being rude. Lying is rude, ban worthy - but stands. Had to report a slur more than once to get it removed, took 2 days. More than anything, hate the way they talk about the poor.
Really wild too, you can't post about the bible. Someone posted their own thing with some scripture and they were attacked for it and told they are the problem - but if you reply to someone they are a liar - you're the problem.
Think the answer is the same no matter what - social media is bad for humanity and needs to end.
UPDATE: Have asked them to delete my account, they REFUSED! They have a fake countdown to get it back, I don't want it back, social media is cancer.
Nextdoor will absolutely censor and silence you even while following guidelines
My account has been suspended for "Local and national politics/issues"
"Nextdoor is a place to discuss topics that are important to your local community. We have rules on where members may post about religion, non-local, and political issues."
My post was non-partisan explanation of geography and oil. There were absolutely no references to politics or political issues. I've seen many neighbors confused and ASKING about oil reserves and what is happening, as fact, with Iran. It's the breakdown of information that apparently is a violation. Absolutely disgusting. I inherently leave partisan politics out of my posts. This is just censorship and an intentional erasure of facts....like "where is the strait of hormuz and why it can impact the US when it's closed" THOSE ARE FACTS....NOT POLITICS. I AM ABSOLUTELY APPALLED.
This was my post: "I've seen many people here confused about the oil reserves in the US and how the US could need oil from Iran. Here is a breakdown of the geography and the impact/what it means for us right now. Also, crude oil has to be refined." And included a link to an explanation of geography.

This company is horrible
This company is horrible, deceptive, and their website is full of non-stop dark patterns. I spent 15 minutes trying to unsubscribe from notifications that I am beyond tired of getting and won't stop polluting my inbox. They make you click HUNDREDS of times to unsubscribe from everything. Finally gave up, when to deactivate my account, and it gave me the option to click one button to unsubscribe from all. WHERE THE HELL WAS THAT BUTTON WHEN I WANTED TO UNSUBSCRIBE. WOW. Slimy as hell. I hope this company disappears soon.

Nothing works as it should
Nothing works as it should, can't find posts, can't stop email notifications, over censored, etc
This is a joke of a site. The reviewers take money from companies to allow fake profiles and hourly posts to promote their business even though they claim this is not allowed. When you report this the reports are ignored. Then they use the fake guidelines to remove anyone who speaks honestly about a company that is lining their pockets. It is good for finding lost pets but completely useless for anything else except a laugh at what a joke this site is.
My Nextdoor account was suspended—twice—for the same type of posting they had previously recognized and rewarded.
Nextdoor awarded me a badge recognizing my original acrylic artwork and my posting activity. Then, in September 2025, that same posting pattern was suddenly cited as a policy violation, and my account was suspended—with no indication that the rules had changed. A support representative instructed me to limit myself to one similar post per week going forward, even though that restriction does not appear anywhere in Nextdoor's published Community Guidelines. I followed that instruction anyway, in good faith, for nearly a year.
Then it happened again.
In July 2026, Nextdoor suspended my account a second time. They initially claimed six posts violated their spam policy. When I repeatedly asked which posts violated which specific provision of that policy, they reduced the list to three. The art posts disappeared entirely, leaving only two recipes posted on different days and one unrelated question about a leaky faucet. Yet the two-week suspension remained exactly the same.
Despite repeated requests, Nextdoor never explained how those remaining three posts met the definition of spam under its published policy. Instead, I received generic, scripted responses that never addressed my questions. I pursued every available avenue—including the in-app appeal, the Help Center, email support, and their verified X (formerly Twitter) support account. Eventually, they stopped responding altogether, leaving two of my emails unanswered.
That was the most troubling part of this experience. An appeals process should explain why a policy applies—not simply repeat that a decision has been made. In my experience, Nextdoor was unable or unwilling to provide that explanation.
If you're considering using Nextdoor to share your work or participate regularly in your neighborhood community, my experience suggests that even content the platform has previously recognized can later become the basis for a suspension, without a clear explanation of how it violates the company's own published rules.
I moved to a new town and updated my account. That got me indefinitely suspended. It was basically a lost pet poster and babysitting ad.

Nextdoor Has Become Hostile to the Very People Who Keep It Alive!
I have used Nextdoor as a genuine community platform, contributed regularly, helped neighbors, supported local businesses, and spent real time trying to make the neighborhood feed useful. In return, an account connected to me was suspended indefinitely over a comment, with little meaningful explanation and no fair sense of proportion.
Nextdoor’s moderation system feels inconsistent, secretive, and excessively punitive. Users can be reported, restricted, or removed without being clearly told what exact words crossed the line, who actually reviewed the context, or why a warning would not have been sufficient. Appeals appear to be handled with canned responses rather than a serious human review.
The platform claims to build stronger neighborhoods, yet it repeatedly drives away active contributors while filling the feed with sponsored posts, repetitive notifications, petty disputes, and questionable content that somehow remains untouched. The people creating useful conversations are treated as disposable, while the moderation machinery seems more concerned with control than community.
A neighborhood platform cannot survive on advertisements and silent readers alone. It needs people willing to speak, help, recommend, debate, and participate. When those people are punished indefinitely over a single comment, the message is clear: contribute at your own risk.
Nextdoor was once genuinely useful. Now it feels like an over-policed advertising platform with an appeals process designed to exhaust users rather than resolve anything fairly.
One star. Not because moderation exists, but because Nextdoor appears incapable of applying it consistently, transparently, or reasonably.
A Good Idea Ruined by Terrible Moderation and Too Many Ads
I was a neighborhood Lead on Nextdoor, and I have now been suspended indefinitely. My 76-year-old brother was also suspended indefinitely, apparently for comments made on other people’s posts. Neither of us was trying to scam anyone, threaten anyone, or harm the community. We were active local users who actually participated.
During my time as a Lead, I watched groups of users report, target, and pile onto people they disagreed with. It often felt less like fair moderation and more like neighborhood cliques deciding who was allowed to speak. Political posts are restricted in the main feed, which is fine, but users still judge and attack one another based on whether they think someone is liberal, conservative, or anything else. It becomes exhausting and toxic instead of neighbors helping neighbors.
Now that active Leads and longtime users are being removed, the people left behind can complain endlessly, spread nonsense, post questionable material, or gang up on others with very little accountability. Meanwhile, the platform seems perfectly happy as long as the feed is filled with pet pictures, backyard wildlife videos, arguments about the city, scams, repetitive complaints, and advertisements.
The advertising has become heavier and more intrusive. Nextdoor increasingly feels less like a neighborhood community and more like an advertising platform that tolerates users only as long as they stay quiet, post harmless fluff, and never challenge anyone.
Nextdoor was a genuinely good idea. A place where neighbors could share information, help one another, recommend local businesses, report problems, and build stronger communities could have been valuable. Instead, it has become over-policed, inconsistent, politically charged, clique-driven, and overloaded with ads.
The moderation system is the platform’s biggest failure. Indefinite suspensions should require clear evidence, real human review, transparency, and a meaningful appeal process. Instead, users are removed with little explanation while obvious problems remain.
Run from this platform. It is not worth the time, frustration, or energy. Good concept, horribly managed. One star.

Worst app
This app really angers me. The moderators on next door neighbor get very personal with the neighbors that want to use this app. The rules on next door neighbor are so ridiculous that it makes this app unrealistic to use monthly because they'll suspend you for ridiculous reasons. And look at all the ads that are always on next door neighbor! And then us neighbors get in trouble for spamming when there's indeed so many ads we have to deal with??!! Does this make any sense anybody? I got suspended for thanking my neighbors on next door neighbor for looking out for my cat then I got suspended for posting an updating how my paintings were going. Next door neighbor tried to say that I was selling my paintings. Never sold one painting and I just got started I was just having fun painting. This app is so not fun. I am not waiting to get unsuspended I just won't be back on here A lot of us are not going to come back.

This site/app feels like a joke
This site/app feels like a joke, a prime example of biased and poor moderation. If I had to sum up Nextdoor in one phrase, it would be: social media for boomers. Most posts are bland and uninteresting, but that’s not even the main problem. The moderation here is awful. In my area, nearly all the moderators are openly Reform UK supporters, and if you say anything even mildly critical of Reform UK, your post gets removed or closed. Meanwhile, blatantly racist comments like calling Green Party supporters terrorists or claiming a city will become a caliphate without Reform UK control are left up. If you complain to Nextdoor customer service about this, you just get a generic email telling you to contact the moderators!!! The very people causing the problems.
