We were sorry to hear that you felt that the communication was poor and the editing did not result in the publication of your article. We take these matters very seriously at ProofreadingPal. After reviewing all previous communication with you, we found that you did not give any specific requests about how the proofreader should approach editing your article; therefore, your article was edited according to the style guide given on Cureus’ own website. Furthermore, we have no records of you ever emailing, calling, or chatting with our customer service department. Additionally, the original file you uploaded to our website was in PDF format. Because Adobe PDF does not have a Track Changes feature, we use the editing tools to simulate Track Changes and also write out each revision in the pop-up note associated with each correction. We also include comments using the comment function. PDFs are essentially images of document pages and cannot be edited directly. The expectation is that the author will use our marked-up PDF as a reference when making edits to their master copy of the document in the software used to create the document. Finally, please keep in mind that ProofreadingPal does not guarantee that documents proofread and edited by our proofreaders will be published in Cureus or in any other journal. We have worked with hundreds of authors who publish articles with Cureus, and Cureus recommends our services, but this does not mean that Cureus will publish every article proofread and edited by ProofreadingPal. Cureus rejects many articles for reasons that are beyond ProofreadingPal’s control, and we cannot be held responsible for such rejections. We guarantee that your document is proofread for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization errors and edited for sentence structure, clarity, and academic style. If a document submitted to us is not suitable for publication based on other standards outside the scope of our service, we cannot guarantee it will meet those standards after our work.
