The regurments for payouts are unrealistic

It rained all day from the night befor tell like 4am the next day and still rained off and on the next day and still no payout the whole day was runined and you was stucked insaid not doing much and still no payout. Talked to customer service and they didnt care to hear me out overall yes its cheap and peace of mine the the requirements for payment is unreal iv used this alot and the one time I figured I would get a payout I was told no after I placed my 1 star review and complaints with customer service they did end up sending me a reimbursement for the one day. I'll give them 2 cause they did end up paying but it shouldn't have been that hard when everywhere is under a flood warning and county roads are flooded

Do not purchase - SCAM

We have purchased this several times over 2-3 years. I will never purchase again. This is a scam. Yesterday, June 26th, it rained all day except for maybe a total of 2 hours. We had water standing 1-2 inches in our campsite. We had flash flood warnings for our area. However, we were told that this did not qualify according to their records for us to get reimbursed. This is a joke and I would recommend that no one purchase this. This is the second time something like this has happened.

Poor communication and hidden terms

They offer coverage for rain on camping trips but have hidden in their terms of service that any modification to your trip will cancel the entire coverage plan (and this is extremely poorly communicated by Hipcamp as well) and require you to purchase an entirely new one, which negates the purpose of getting a weather refund to begin with. This results in easily lost money if you're like the 99% of people who don't read through the fine print. Can't say I'd recommend again; doesn't seem worth it.

Was on chicoteague island in Virginia 6/23/26 rained from 3pm to 10:30pm- Thunderstorms and heavy rain per NOAA 2.19 . They claimed it did not meet the 1.5mm for payment. This site is such a scam. On 6/19/26 it drizzled and I was paid. But not for heavy rain during 8am-8pm DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY. IT'S A SCAM

Scam. Couldn’t recommend this service less. We opted for the ‘insurance’ on a trip to the Hamptons and it poured the entire time. All I heard from their automated CS rep was how their readings from blah blah and blah blah were more accurate than the fact that we sat inside all day due to rain. This isn’t worth the slightest thought and probably wont be in business in the near future due to fraud. Don’t bother.

Total Scam

Total Scam! Conditions were met and verified by the rain gauge on a friend’s trailer. When I reach out to customer service they denied my claim as “After reviewing your Weather Guarantee, it appears that the conditions required for reimbursement were not met on 6/17. Our records indicate that precipitation did not reach or exceed 1.5 mm per hour for at least 4 separate hours between 8 AM and 8 PM” Out of 5 days we had rain for 3 of them and I only asked to be reimbursed for 1 day as the other 2 days didn’t meet the criteria. Notice that most of the 5star reviews are from people that didn’t actually use it as they had nice weather. I have a feeling these scam artist almost never pay out! Do not use this service!

The refund for the first day was immediate. There was some rain the second day so I thought there would be another refund but it didnt get included. We did have to wait to go out for our beach activities bc of that rain so that was my assumption it would be another one. But still grateful for what was offered.
