Great Time at the Retreat (with a few suggestions)
GREAT:
The Southern Comfort Cabin team was incredible. They were extremely helpful with my questions and last‑minute requests throughout the booking process — very responsive and personable.
GOOD:
The Retreat was just as beautiful as we remembered from five years ago. For a group of 12 adults, the rooms were large and spacious, so we never felt crowded. The location is THE BEST — stunning views and a warm, homey feel. We were ready for a luxurious stay at Lake Blue Ridge.
IMPROVEMENTS:
As with any property, it’s beginning to show some age, which made our stay feel slightly less luxurious.
There was a secondary fridge from the cottage placed in the kitchen because the main fridge wasn’t working. Not a huge issue, but when cooking for 12 people, you expect access to two working fridges. This could have been fixed or communicated prior to the rental.
The stovetop had a couple of burners that would occasionally stop working, and the oven would also shut off unexpectedly. Thankfully, there was a secondary oven available.
The coffee maker caused some frustration — it was a bit slow, a bit old, and a bit confusing, which led to a morning line for coffee.
Consider adding user guides for the hot tub (we ended up Googling the manufacturer’s manual to figure out how to change the mode) and for the in‑house speaker system so guests can easily play music.
The primary bedroom’s jetted tub doesn’t seem to function properly.
The bottom‑floor rooms struggled to stay warm compared to the main floor. Providing space heaters in those rooms would make a big difference in comfort.
These were fairly small inconveniences and did not take away from an overall great experience.

A beautiful well kept cabin. We'll stocked with sheets,towels, and kitchen utensils. Every question i had (2) was answered instantly. Couldn't of had a better experience

The cabin was great! Very nice and cozy! Keep in mind when they tell you That you may need 4 wheel drive to get out of the drive way they aren’t kidding 🤣 overall it was a great trip!

Have used them for years but not so sure I can recommend them after last trip. No follow thru on cabin issues and disrupted our experience. Took several calls and work orders but still issue not resolved and they did not seem to care. Cabin itself was great maybe could have used a quick cleaning if was not used in a while.
An amazing place to stay! Fun and challenging drive to get to the cabin. Communication was great on getting there and everything was nice and clean when we arrived. Would recommend to using Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals to anyone!

The cabin was perfect with its tri-level set up. The view from the balcony...do not forget your binoculars! I like that is is close to blueridge, not far from Ellijay, and only a little over an hour to Helen and Dahlonega. Just up the road, two places offer firewood... it was perfect

Rental as above and beyond the company not so much
After placing the reservation, we were asked for the names of all people staying at the cabin, which was kind of weird, as no other vacation company has asked this before. The bedding top sheet had a stain on it (looked like iron burns) and we reserved a house that had an extra room over the garage, which we didn't have the code for and when we called to get one they said that room wasn't available, though it was clearly listed on the rental. After notifying them after we left, we were told they'd look into it, but never heard back. The house itself was gorgeous and the kitchen well stocked. Super comfy furnishings very quiet, and gorgeous views.
The cabin was clean and we had everything we needed. It was a great quiet weekend and very enjoyable.

We loved the home and the space. Everything was very comfortable and inside was mostly clean. The cooking utensils, cutting boards could have been cleaner. Lots of towels and ample soap, etc., in bathrooms.
A disappointment was the deck and screened porch. It would have been nice to sit out there with coffee but the tables and chairs were too dirty to use.
When we called about not having a coffee machine, we did get prompt attention ... grateful for that!
