The team at Stuart and Lau were thoughtful and excellent communicators. I really appreciated that they took the time to respond to my email and followed up with information about my order. It says a lot about the company that they wrote to notify me with updates even after they helped me with my original question.

Puckered Seams
The two seams on the bottom panel of the bag I received were significantly different. One was nice and smooth, the other was badly puckered. I asked to exchange the bag, but S&L refused my request because the materials used would “have a little bit of an irregular shape.” I responded by noting the significant difference between the two seems on the same panel—one was perfect (and looked exactly like the pics on their website) while the other was puckered and janky. They again refused to exchange the bag. I was very disappointed by this response from a company that trumpets its commitment to quality and craftsmanship (not to mention customer service). I won’t be purchasing any S&L products in the future.

Hi Rob, We are very sorry that the Backpack fell short of expectations and appreciate your honest review here. The rubber panel on the bottom of our backpack is indeed stiffer and less pliable than other materials on the bag. This makes it super durable, but not always possible to control into perfectly flat seam lines specifically at the curvature where it rounds into the back of the bag — and some minor puckering can occur in that location. This is ultimately a design choice and tradeoff to ensure the bottom of the bag is hard-wearing and can take a beating. We understand that you had a different view, and felt that just going the route of a standard return (vs. sending a replacement) was the right solution based on what we saw in the photos. Stained Bag -> FANTASTIC Customer Service!
I had a cooler leak while on a roadtrip, and my S&L briefcase got red dye stains on the bottom of the bag and laptop sleeve. I contacted customer service, and they not only sent me a very detailed list of options/recommendations for cleaning, but they also were willing to send me a laptop sleeve replacement (even though it was totally my fault for staining the bag!). Great customer service, and I will absolutely buy my future bags from this company/recommend to friends.

5 stars! This is truly a beautiful briefcase of exceptional quality and craftsmanship with tasteful and functional design elements. I am shocked at how much I love this bag! So many little details including a hanging inner laptop soft case. I went from a more conservative and formal bag when I was early in my career to a backpack drone in big tech. This bag bridges the gap and can go from a 20 something hustling to a guy like me in the C-suite with a couple of decades under his belt - but with much more to do.

I bought the "Cary Briefcase - Gen 2 - Slim - Black" for my husband's birthday. He absolutely loves it! He needed a bag that is durable & practical whilst having a sleek appearance. I definitely took a chance in purchasing it without seeing it in person, but so glad I did! The awards and reviews for the product is what solidified my choice. We both personally love that the brand has discretely placed their name on the product. Just enough for someone in passing to see. It makes the brand niche. We could feel that the materials are of high quality. Despite knowing that the inside would be a light colour, a much darker colour would've been greatly appreciated. This is to prevent any scuff marks or stains from being seen. But still satisfied. I loved that the emails received regarding the delivery where from an actual person and not a bot. And the delivery was smooth and so quick! I live in KSA, half way across the world from Stuart & Lau's headquarters. Great work to all those involved!
