I guess I had high expectations even…
I guess I had high expectations even after reading some reviews that were not so complimentary. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. I was able to remove one bolt, after drilling into it with a regular drill bit. The drilling part of the grab it just doesn't cut it. In fact, it walked on a couple of bolts, causing me to have to enlarge the original hole. The extractor loses a lot of its bite fast, so it doesn't grab it! I brought the Pro set thinking I would make it work...it still needs work.
Oh Bob we hate to hear when this happens. In situations like these we always emphasize to use a very slow RPM and importantly both the drill and extract should be done in reverse (counter clockwise). It sounds like you drilled out with another bit which likely caused your stripped bolt to be pushed down further. If you’re using too high an RPM (or in clockwise action) it will cause the Grabit to wear prematurely. The Grabit Pro does self-center but if you have any issues a quick center tap punch usually can help the issue. Slow & steady and you should have more success and not lose grip.
