When we asked questions to clarify details and ensure we understood your requirements, you repeatedly referred us back to the email rather than engaging with our queries. This undermined the purpose of the conversation, which was to ensure we had all the necessary information to provide an accurate quote. Additionally, we schedule phone calls not only to gather project details but also to get a sense of the person we may potentially work with. Unfortunately, your tone during the conversation was dismissive and came across as argumentative. We want to work with clients who respect our process, and in this instance, it felt like there was a lack of willingness to communicate openly and collaboratively. Things escalated when you used inappropriate language, which is unacceptable in any professional setting. Your question, asking if we thought you were an “arsehole,” and the subsequent swearing, were especially surprising given your status. As professionals, we hold ourselves to high standards and expect the same level of respect from our clients. We also understand that you requested quotes from five multiple companies, which is, of course, your right. However, we have found that when potential clients seem overly combative or feel they already know everything about the job, it often leads to a strained working relationship. Like you, we have the choice of who we work with, and we choose to collaborate with individuals who share our values of respect and professionalism. Leaving a 1-star review because we refused to work with you is unfortunate, but we stand by our decision. The phone calls we conduct are an essential part of our process to assess both the project and the person behind it. When we openly communicated our reasons for not moving forward, it seemed to trigger a much stronger reaction than expected, and the way you handled this was concerning. In closing, we believe that clear, respectful communication is key to a successful business relationship.
