First plan is useless

We are sorry to hear that the Basic Plan did not work for the customer. We have three other plans to choose from. We also list all the features of every plan on our website and our sales team is available to answer any questions. We also have a 30 day money back guarantee so there is no risk to testing us out - if it doesn't work out, then customers will not lose any money. Our team is also available to help migrate sites as well at no cost. We did search our helpdesk and found no tickets related to this reviewer. If our hosting was truly useless, then we would not be in business for so many years and we would not be getting the other great reviews we receive here.

Winhost is FANTASTIC!

We have used Winhost to host our email and website for 10 years now. Their platform is fantastic! I recently had the need to put up a REST service using .Net Core. Their support team was there for me to help me through issues that weren't even connected to the publishing process. And they also have a fantastic knowledge base to help you through everything that comes up. I highly recommend Winhost.

Switching to Winhost was a good decision

I was forced to find a new provider when my my former provider stopped caring about its customers. I switched to Winhost a couple of months ago and so far I've been very pleased with both the service and support. There are a few things I find inconvenient or annoying, but nothing bad enough to make me regret my decision.

Terrible CS with a "not our problem" mentality toward shared host users.

The CS is terrible here. Whenever we have issues the responses are vague and suggest "it's a problem on your end". No explanation, no information. To get insight, I generally have to ask repeatedly. Twice I've been told we could "upgrade" to a managed server. I don't need to pay triple when a dedicated server would allow me to access the information you refuse to share. The issue is the CS treating shared host customers like they aren't worth helping. It took multiple complaints to find out the shared Windows hosting is allotted a whopping 256mb ram. It isn't visible anywhere on your account. Okay... fine, I can be more efficient with my code, but seriously... 256mb in 2024?! I didn't set the server up or I never would've accepted this. The "unlimited" storage is actually 15gb. Every time you run into issues and submit a ticket you are alloted a whopping 5gb more. Is it really necessary to restrict shared hosting to 15gb in an age when 24tb HDDs are readily available? Are we hosting on 2005 computers still? Recently, due to an unexpected issue, a burst of duplicate emails was sent to the same address every 15 minutes. Similar emails go out to the same address every week or two, so logs would show it's normal behavior that malfunctioned. It was during the holiday when I wasn't around to notice, and I received an automated ticket during thanksgiving stating that abuse would be met with account suspension. No consideration for the holiday or the fact it was obviously a glitch. When I got back the email was inaccessible, but the ticket was repeatedly closed without answers--"nothing was changed". Eventually I was pointed to the "password reset" article, which shouldn't have been necessary if "nothing was changed". Meanwhile, months later emails to certain addresses still don't work (not even the email in question). To your response: We had no intentions of using "30+ TB" of storage. We likely wouldn't even use 100gb of storage. The point is that you say "unlimited" and then slap a useless 15gb on the account, which is a joke. I also do not believe that you monitor anything. We have never once been emailed about downtime or a runaway process, or even the storage being at 100% capacity. I usually wait a good 3 hours before contacting you guys about downtime, and then and only then does someone look into it. Maybe you have monitors, but no one pays any attention to them. The most information I have gotten on the matter is "a customer was using too many resources and the issue has been resolved", and yet the downtime and extremely slow load times continue to occur day after day for hours at a time. And the point with the email is that your "spam" guard is rudimentary. Not to mention someone/something obviously changed the login for the email, but I was repeatedly lied to about it.

We're sorry to hear this customer is not satisfied. We understand being frustrated with hosting issues. We've been in business for 15 yrs. If everything here were true, we wouldn't be in business today and not have all the other great reviews. A. We offer Shared Hosting (many websites per server). For stable hosting for ALL customers, we place constraints (like memory). We list this on our site and the customer freely chose their plan. B. For stable hosting, we do everything we can to avoid abuse. This includes placing soft storage limits. If the soft limit is reached, we can review the usage. Our hosting is not designed for 30+ TB media archive. No shared host will allow this. C. For email stability we suspend email service when there are spammy patterns. If email is suspended, we work with the customer to resolve the issue. D. If the Shared plans are not right for a use case, we offer other alternatives that are more suitable. It's up to the customer if they want to go that route. We wish the customer the best in their search for a hosting provider.

My E-commerce site BetterSunshine.com…

My E-commerce site BetterSunshine.com has been hosted by WebHost for eight (8) years. While support has been seldom needed, the few times support was needed, it has been prompt and professional. Absolutely no regrets. (Oh, and nobody paid me to compose and submit this review. I pay WebHost for their very worthwhile hosting service!)

WinHost is top notch!

WinHost is an excellent hosting facility. I can say enough good things about them. You also can't beat the price. The control panel is easy to use and offers many practical applications that are easy to consume. The support staff is top-notch as well. You can't go wrong by using WinHost as your web hosting site.

Windows web hosting (Max plan) review

This is a first review after about half a year of use of winhost's asp.net core windows hosting. Overall: very happy with the hosting, albeit that some features that are standard included in other shared hosting providers are missing. Pros: + Very stable, haven't had a single outage. (Unlike Accuwebhosting that non-stop crash their servers). + Support is responsive and competent. You're not first getting some call center in a low wage country that first gives you nonsense replies 3 times where you have to keep explaining yourself over and over before getting escalated to real engineers (Accuwebhosting does this) + The amount of memory and disk space is generous on their Max plan ($9.95 per month). + Pricing quite competitive, Max plan is quite good. There are some downsides, no deal breakers, but still some inconveniences/annoyances: - The control panel is ancient and missing quite a number of things that is standard in modern control panels like Plesk. They are some ancient set of aspx pages. Overall winhost seems reluctant to invest in a more full featured control panel or just using Plesk, which is a shame, because this would easily land them in the 5 stars rating. I don't understand the reluctance to change, I've seen multiple people asking for features mentioned in this list, and they're all being shot down. - No online file manager. If you need to move large directory trees around on the server, that kind of thing is painful/impossible. I've had to create a primitive file manager myself to do this. File manager is standard in other control panels. - No automated support for letsencrypt certificates. You can however do this manually using certbot. I will provide a simple helper batch file below. - No option to shut down app pool in control panel. Is standard in Plesk. You'll have to rename web.config temporarily to shut down your asp.net core web app to upload new binaries. - Download speeds are not very high. As promised, here's a little batch file to help you generate a letsencrypt certificate for winhost: ----- REM This is a simple batch file to create a Letsencrypt certificate using a CSR from a web host. REM REM Run as adminstrator, needs certbot to be installed. REM REM Get certbot from github REM REM Instructions: REM REM - Get CSR: In cp.winhost.com: Sites List, Site Manager, SSL, Click "Generate New CSR". REM If your domain name starts with www., the common name field must have www. as a prefix, otherwise it won't work. REM - Click "Submit CSR Information" REM - Copy the CSR text into a file C:\tmp\csr.txt. REM - Run this batch file. REM - When running for the first time, certbot will ask to upload a file with specific contents to a specific url. REM Create/upload this file and press enter. REM - If successful, the following output is displayed: REM Successfully received certificate. REM Certificate is saved at: C:\tmp\cert.pem REM - Open file C:\tmp\cert.pem REM - Copy/paste the contents of the cert.pem file into the web host control panel and click the submit button. mkdir C:\tmp certbot certonly --manual --csr C:\tmp\csr.txt --cert-path C:\tmp\cert.pem --key-path C:\tmp\key.pem --fullchain-path C:\tmp\fullchain.pem --chain-path C:\tmp\chain.pem pause
