The safety and wellbeing of our au pairs is always a priority for us and we're sorry that you feel this was not the case in your own experience. I note from our records that, despite some difficulties during your two matches, several members of our team were in regular contact with you throughout to try and support you through these challenging times. We hope you are able to retain and apply the positive lessons and memories you gained whilst an au pair and we wish you all the best for the future.
I participated in the program from September 2018 to March 2021. I had two host families and 7 host kids.
The program not only helped me to improve my English, but also made me grow as a person. One of the best experiences of my life. I was able to travel and meet incredible places and people.

It's so great to hear that the program opened up opportunities for you when you returned home and has impacted your life in such a positive way! Thanks for sharing.
I was only 1 week as an Au Pair in the United States because the LCC that assigned me wrote a letter saying that I was not suitable to take care of children because I had psychological problems, they never did an evaluation to determine if this was true, they just made the decision to cancel my exchange without giving me an exact explanation of the situation, they took me out of my hots family's house with lies, saying that they gave me a ticket to Colombia so that I could visit my family for a week and that I would return, but in the end it was never thus, they were dishonest and did not make sure that my mental health was good or bad with a professional who attested to it.

Thank you for writing this review. Our most important priority is the health, safety and well-being of our au pairs, our host families and their children. And our experienced team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should our au pairs need additional support at any time.
We pride ourselves on our rigorous screening process which is designed to protect everyone’s interests and ensure our au pairs have the best possible experience on our program. Sometimes more information comes to light once an au pair arrives in the US and, in these cases, our aim is to work closely with the au pair to determine the best solution. We’re sorry you feel that the program did not work out for you as you would have hoped and we wish you all the very best for the future.
This company opened the doors for me to be able to have an enriching abroad experience in all possible ways while getting wonderful memories with wonderful children, parents, church, universities! I am deeply grateful! Thank you Au Pair in America.

We're so pleased that we were able to give you an enriching experience in the USA and the opportunity to make connections. Thanks for sharing!
I had the absolute best time in the US with APIA. I started before COVID so I actually was able to start my year in NYC and I had a blast. After that I stayed with my Hostfamily for two years and I still visit them once a year. To be honest there were things where I think APIA could've done better. For example, I think my first counselor in DC was NOT helpful AT ALL. But I was able to work with my family together and we did great. It just made me sad for all the au pairs that would've needed her help. And I've seen Au Pairs leave just because she was not good at her job.
But overall APIA was a good choice and I'll always be grateful, that I was able to get to know my family through them.
So if you're thinking about working with children and having an amazing time do it and be an Au pair!!!!

It's great to hear that you had a positive experience in the USA, and that you're still in touch with your host family even now! We're so sorry that you found your first CC unhelpful. From our system, I can't see any references to issues with your CC in DC. If there is anything you would like to discuss further, please e-mail us on [email protected] and we'd be happy to chat further about this.
I had the opportunity to match with great Families. Which help me to improve my English conversational skills. Also, I made a lot friends from different countries which was awesome interact with them.

It was a great and wonderful experience! Living in another country with another family allows you to open your mind and discover the person you really are. I had the best host family who I am so thankful for.

Hi Raquel, we're so pleased that you had a successful program experience! Thanks for sharing.
We're sorry to hear you feel this way about your LCC. The majority of our LCC's receive amazing feedback about how they support the au pairs in their cluster. And many of our LCC's are former au pairs and/or host mothers themselves - so have first hand understanding of the program and the challenges our au pairs sometimes face. Their priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all of our participants. I note you had contact with more than one of our LCC's and hope that, overall, you were able benefit from some valuable and positive experiences during your time on our program.
No enough support for the au pair, specially during the pandemic. The payment is not meeting the minimum per hour by state and some families excuse their wrong behavior behind "you are leaving in my house and I'm paying you". The whole program is promoted as the best exchange experience when lots of au pair are not even able to enjoy their free time because of very strict families that not respect boundaries or people.
**I worked as an au pair in 2019-2021

We're sorry you feel you were not supported adequately during your time on the program with us. I see from our records that you had regular contact with your LCC throughout those two years. Plus our emergency telephone number is available 24/7 should au pairs require special or urgent assistance. The US Department of State determines the weekly stipend to be paid to au pairs. Plus host families and au pairs can agree on a higher weekly payment. Again, I can see no mention in your records that you were not being paid appropriately by your host family. It's disappointing to hear that you did not feel you fully experienced the cultural exchange benefits of the au pair program. But hopefully your two years in the US provided you with some lasting learnings and benefits which will help you in later life. Thank you for sharing this review.
Life changing experience. I absolutely recommend this agency, very professional and I always has the help I needed during my 2 years in the US. Thank you so much, you guys are the best !

Hello, we're so pleased that we could provide you with professionalism and help during your program experience. That's great to hear!
Thank you for posting this review. Although your comment re LCC's is a little unclear. I see from our system that you spent 2 years in the US on our program. But can't see any references to you having issues with your LCC's during that time. If there is anything you would like to discuss further, please e-mail us on [email protected] and we'd be happy to chat.
Is agreat oportunity for travel and working, learning English is easier in an environment of it, the only but I got or the reason i give 4 stars is because the week of practice, is not enough to see if you get along whit the family, at least two or a moth will be better.

Thank you for your feedback and we're so happy you enjoyed the opportunity to travel and learn English whilst participating as an au pair on our program.
I loved my experience as an au pair with APiA! They were always helpful and the entire process was so simple. I recommend APiA to everyone interested in being an au pair.

We're delighted to hear that you found our team so helpful and the application process so simple. And that you loved your experience on our program!
The program's rules are only for the family, this is not an exchange student this only work
Reply from Au Pair in America2023-05-30
We're sorry you feel this way about the program rules. The au pair program is regulated by the US Department of State which requires that host families pay a minimum weekly stipend and provide room and board. Host families and their au pairs can also agree to a higher weekly payment. And au pairs may not work more than 45 hours a week. The most important priority for us is the health, safety and well-being of our participants and our experienced team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should our au pairs need additional support or resources at any time during their program.

We're happy that you had a successful Au Pair in America experience!
It was almost 3 years of an incredible experience, a wonderful family and all the I needed in this important decision that it was to choose a family to live in for so long. In terms of safety and support, APIA helped me a lot before, during and even after the program.
I have to say that the partner agency, experimento, before I travel also have a good support but it could be better.
