Definition:ex·tra·nom·i·cal /ˌikˈstranämikəl-/adjectiveextranomical 1. awesome, greater than expected or remarkable value."the extranomical tour was one of the best days of my life!"Synonyms: extraordinary, astronomical, amazingExtranomical Tours, founded in 2002, is a San Francisco sightseeing tour company that specializes in tours for people who generally do not like to take tours. Our clientele is very independent and likes to venture to places where most tour companies don't go to. Due to the small size of our groups, our guests receive a more personalized and exclusive experience from us. Our tours offer a distinct "traveling with friends" feel, so that most people interact with each other and so we are able to visit locations larger vehicles do not. For example, we have a short hike up to the Giant Sequoia grove on our one day Yosemite tour from San Francisco. On our California wine country tours, we visit small family-owned boutique wineries (too small for large buses) that produce such limited quantities you can only buy their wine at their winery! We are fully insured and licensed by the State of California Public Utilities Commission and are regulated and inspected annually by the California Highway Patrol. We are proud members in good standing at the San Francisco Travel Association. All of our drivers are drug tested at the time of hire as well as at random times throughout the year. We make sure that our vehicles are always in excellent mechanical condition by inspecting daily and keeping a rigid maintenance schedule. We train all of our guides one-on-one to make sure that they are knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all, safe. All of our guides are also friendly, informative, and experienced. We test drivers on a periodical basis on their knowledge of the areas we visit. We also maintain a training program and a resource library for guides to stay current on relevant material. We carefully select the locations we explore on our tours to maximize your time and see the best of the best, while always maintaining an adventurous yet easy-going atmosphere. On our tours we have a comfortable amount of time where you are with the group, but we also give you enough time on your own so you can choose from different activities that interest you such as hiking, shopping, museums, or just taking in the beauty. We know you work hard all year long to take a vacation so we make sure to do everything in our power to make your tour a memory that you'll treasure for a lifetime!Happy travels,Extranomical Tours.

Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently share that the tour guides are incredibly friendly, exceptionally knowledgeable, and skilled at keeping everyone entertained and fully informed throughout the long daily journeys. Travelers really enjoy exploring the astonishingly beautiful natural sights and deeply appreciate the well-organized stops along the way. Some reviewers were not happy with the logistics, specifically mentioning rushed schedules at major viewpoints and occasional pickup complications at the start of the tour. A few other people also felt that the itinerary provided too little free time for independent exploration, leaving them wishing for longer visits at specific scenic locations.

Randall did an excellent job driving up the winding road to/from Muir Woods N. M. He is very knowledgeable about the woods, history and terrain. In Sonoma and Napa he had a lot of inside information because he had lived there for several years. Thanks Randall!

Big thanks to our tour guide Sheron today – she was such a gem! Drove carefully and safely, which really put us at ease. She even stopped traffic so we could deboard safely on a hectic road – seriously impressive. Loved how she kept checking on us, making sure we were comfortable, handing out sanitizers, and always being kind and polite. She apologized for every little inconvenience. Super helpful and gave useful info during the tour. Just a really cool, thoughtful person. Made a great trip even better!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that Sharon made your tour experience so smooth and enjoyable. Her attention to safety, kindness, and genuine care for guests truly set her apart. We’re so glad she helped make your day extra special. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!
Dustin was chipper, even early in the morning, through unusual and heavily traffic and kept us on schedule, no small feat for a group of 26!
Thank you for the great feedback! We're so glad to hear that Dustin's energy and professionalism made a positive impact on your tour — especially navigating traffic and keeping the group on time! We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to him.
This was a nice tour. Bus was comfortable and our guide Hannah was very good. More clarity on the time it takes to walk each loop in Muir Woods is needed. We finished the 1.5 hr loop in 30 mins. Also had only 45 mins in Sausalito which makes it really not worth the stop at all.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the tour and appreciated Hannah as your guide. We’ll work on providing better clarity about the trail durations at Muir Woods and also take your note about the Sausalito stop into account as we continually improve the experience. Thanks again for touring with us!
Randall was a fantastic tour guide. Very informative and funny with his commentary of SF sites. It would have been nice to have a little more time at the Golden Gate Bridge for photos. Also, if the tour could have a drop off point for Lombard St. and maybe a short drop off at Golden Gate Park I feel it would add to the experience. Overall great tour guide and tour of the city.
Thank you for the great feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the tour and Randall’s commentary. Regarding your suggestions, we’d love to include more stops, but due to city regulations and time constraints, we’re limited in where tour vehicles can park or pause. Adding stops would also extend the tour’s duration, which can impact overall scheduling. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you again soon!
Sharon was a phenomenal guide that was great at explaining the attractions we were visiting. Sharon was welcoming and engaging with the whole group, I would definitely recommend!
Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear that Sharon made your experience so memorable. Her warm and engaging style, along with her in-depth explanations, truly help bring each stop to life. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words—she’ll be so happy to hear them!
