There are too many people on HE that are not serious about sharing their home. Many that take forever to answer. HE should remove those people from the platform, because they make those of us that are serious about traveling lose precious time.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that waiting for responses can be frustrating when planning a trip. Members may not always be able to reply immediately, as they may be busy, considering the request, or simply unable to host. For the best chance of finding a successful exchange, we recommend contacting several members in your chosen destination rather than waiting for a single response. This approach generally leads to quicker and more successful matches.
Usually a good experience with Home Ex guests. I would urge customers to double check property details as guest points seem a bit hit and miss and you have to make your own mind up what the exchange is worth to you

A wonderful way to travel with kids
A wonderful way to travel with kids. We used HomeExchange for a family trip to Copenhagen and loved it -staying in a real home with space for the children, a full kitchen and laundry made everything easier and cheaper than a hotel. Our host was lovely and the exchange went perfectly.
Honest tip for newcomers: it took us a while to find the right match, and we had to send quite a few requests before it worked out - dates and locations have to line up on both sides. But with a bit of patience it was completely worth it. Start early, send lots of requests, and don't give up. We'd definitely use it again!

Home Exchange is fantastic.
We have used it extensively throughout the United Kingdom and it’s been excellent.
Houses and hosts naturally vary - but that’s the fun bit of travelling.
Give it a try - you point be disappointed

HE affected how we travel and stay with my wife greatly, on a positive way. I heard it from my friend at work and since then we made many connections and friends around different cities. We had 1 unlucky experience that was totally unexpected and HE was so helpful in such an event where support means everything and they did everything. That support alone would mean 5 star and beyond.

I joined HomeExchange because I…I felt I will enjoy my Holidays, but they became hell
I joined HomeExchange because I believed in the idea of trust, community and mutual respect. Unfortunately, my experience showed me that a sharing concept is only as good as the reliability of the support behind it. Without dependable support when things go wrong, the concept itself loses much of its value.
During our stay in Italy, our host insisted on ending our confirmed exchange before the agreed checkout date. As a family of four travelling abroad, we suddenly found ourselves with no alternative accommodation and no immediate funds to book a hotel at short notice.
We immediately contacted HomeExchange Support and explained that there was no mutual agreement to end the exchange, that we had nowhere to stay, and that we could not afford emergency accommodation. Although the support staff responded courteously, the practical assistance we received fell far short of our expectations. We were largely advised to search for another HomeExchange ourselves while being told that we would need to vacate the property. At the moment we most needed the platform's support, we felt we had been left to solve the crisis ourselves.
During the stay, the host repeatedly pressured us to leave before our agreed checkout date. He also attributed statements to HomeExchange's policies that were not reflected in the policy text he later shared with us. When we asked whether the wording had come from HomeExchange, he confirmed that it had, but the policy extract did not contain the statement he had originally attributed to the platform. This created unnecessary confusion during an already stressful situation.
HomeExchange initially informed us that the exchange was ending by "mutual agreement." We immediately corrected this in writing, explaining that there was no mutual agreement and that the host alone had decided to terminate the exchange. Despite this clarification, we were still left to resolve the situation ourselves.
I appreciate that HomeExchange cannot force a host to continue an exchange. However, when a confirmed exchange unexpectedly breaks down, members should be able to rely on the platform for meaningful assistance. In our case, that did not happen.
I have since submitted a formal complaint to HomeExchange management and to the French consumer authorities because I believe this matter deserves independent review.
The HomeExchange concept has enormous potential, but trust is built on reliability. A platform that promotes trust between strangers must also stand behind its members when that trust breaks down. If guests cannot rely on meaningful support during an emergency, then the concept itself is fundamentally weakened. Unfortunately, that was our experience.

Amazing Home
Anne Laure's home is the perfect pied-à-terre for anyone visiting Paris. In Montmartre: just steps away from one of the most picturesque and Parisian landmarks. The apartment is located in a less touristy vicinity to the 'Sacre Cour' but has amazing views of the city, and it has been renovated to very contemporary standards, it is very spacious and full of light! The decor makes it feel beyond special and gives it a lot of character, you can feel it is truly a Home that has been build through time, curation and emotion. I loved the time I was able to spend in it and the mornings full of light overlooking the city!

People are trustworthy. Great to connect with them and do them and ourselves a huge favour. Also, travel has become 10x cheaper this way. Your home is now your first, second, third, etc home. The world is your oyster.

I’d like Home Exchange to use more filters so we could more easily screen possible swap partners on a like for like basis.
For example:
Many times we receive requests from people who want to swap on a points basis when we only wish to do direct swaps, which is evident from our profile.
Many times we receive requests from people with children and our place is not suitable for children and we’ve clearly indicated that.
We’d prefer places as well equipped and spacious as ours.
We only want requests for at least 7 days, and frequently receive requests for a shorter period.

Hi Fiona,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We really appreciate your detailed suggestions regarding search and screening filters.
We completely understand how time-consuming it can be to receive requests that don't match your listing's preferences—such as reciprocal-only exchanges, minimum stay durations, or child suitability. While our search filters allow members to filter by exchange type and amenities, we know there is always room to improve host controls and reduce non-matching inquiries.
Your ideas regarding stricter preference filtering (like minimum night thresholds and automatic suitability matching) have been passed directly to our Product and Development team as we work on future platform updates.
Thank you again for helping us make HomeExchange better for everyone, and please feel free to reach out to our support team if you ever need help adjusting your listing preferences!
Warm regards,
