Excellent platform

Excellent platform. The instructors are top-notch, energetic, and motivating (even if you didn't have time to do the homework!). There are so many of them that choosing one can seem overwhelming at first, but it's worth spending the time reading their profiles and c.v.'s, and figuring out how to narrow them down to get an instructor you think will work especially well for you. For example, you get to choose one who is close to you geographically and to your general interests, as well as your price range and availability. I do the one-on-one because although more expensive you learn so much more and faster. Each session is like a little miracle. You can go into it detached from the language and unmotivated, but you come out with a head full of the language and totally into it. Every few sessions you notice you've moved up a notch. Highly recommended.

I have been trying to learn French in order to have meaningful conversations ( not just to order a beer and a sandwich) for many years. While doing courses learning grammar and watching YouTube videos are all very useful, it’s only when you’re having a face to face conversation with a native speaker that all that learning you’ve downloaded in your brain starts to come together in a meaningful way. Don’t overthink it - just use it. The italki teacher is there to ensure there is a two way dialogue flowing. The more you talk the more fluent you become.

Italki is not so friendly as Preply

Italki is not so friendly as Preply. There aren't my features, E.G AI, summary after lesson and other...I'm disappointed.

Excellent for working and also as an user. I have worked with Italki since May 21, 2021 up to today. My experience so far has been great. My experience as a student has been great as well, nothing to complain about.

Its a great possibility to get to know new people of overall of the world, to lean the language often with native speaker. In my case it feels more as a talk with a good friend, than a lesson.

Option for comprehensive vocabulary exercises (covering multiple lessons). 2. Option for progressive grammar exercises (ability to choose between 2 or 3 levels). 3. Same for AI role-play activities (ability to choose between 2 or 3 levels).

Years of trust, deleted with no explanation

I deactivated my teacher profile temporarily because of a serious health crisis. I preferred to stay offline during such a delicate period. Support assured me my data was safe and I could restore everything when I returned. After countless attempts to come back, they permanently deleted years of work, reviews, and connections, and stripped my student profile too. Their final message was just "decision is final, we can't disclose further details." They didn't evaluate my case. They just closed it. This is a platform that takes a significant cut from every lesson, benefits from the connections and reputation you build, and then quietly erases you without a reason when it's convenient for them. Years of experience, gone. No proof I ever taught there. And honestly, this has completely killed any desire to use italki as a student either. They're losing a paying customer on both sides, and I'm not the only one who'll walk away after seeing how disposable people are to them. If you're building something on this platform, be aware: you don't matter beyond the fees they collect, and they won't think twice before wiping you out.

Teacher is outstanding and has patience

Lots of options.

I was teaching myself irish for a month and realized i needed someone to teach me. I started googling one on one irish lessons and found italki. As you can imagine irish isn't a very common language but italki has a bunch of native Irish speakers to choose from. I've been enjoying my weekly lessons as it's really the only time i get to speak Irish.

iTalki is a very user friendly program

iTalki is a very user friendly program. I’m pretty sure that you have 3 trial classes (which should be used to find the right teacher for you). I took 2 classes when I found the right teacher for me. She focuses on speaking which is what I need to get better at. I highly recommend iTalki.

Issac and I had a really good session

Issac and I had a really good session. We were able to work in some work with the subjunctive in just ordinary conversation. I love how he allows me to make the mistakes (which I make often) but then corrects me without interrupting. I always appreciate him giving me the chance to repeat the thought I had correctly!
