No Response
I was in a program that closed in the middle of the course (Legal Studies) and was told if I was interested I could apply for the new JD law school program. I did and I haven’t heard anything from the law department. I have been calling and leaving messages for months. I only spoke with someone once and they told me not to worry I have a few months. I continued to call and leave messages however, no one has returned my call. I was told the JD program would start in August but I still have not received a phone call, email nor mail regarding enrollment or status of my application.

Post-Graduate Services
As a graduate in 2011, NCU has sent some informational emails. For doctoral business graduates, I'd really like to see some communication channels created by career categories such as higher ed. faculty, training professionals, consultants, etc. Networking is an important part of finding and sharing opportunities.

The Benefit of a NCU Doctorate
My experience at NCU was very profound. I was looking for an education that will enrich my life and NCU was able to offer that with flexibility. With a doctorate from NCU, not only was I recognized at work but respected in society. working on my second book, I could not have the experience and courage to do that without a NCU education.
I also made friends who I share similar interest with. We are in contact to share our intellectual experiences as experts in our various fields.
Thank you

My doctoral journey at NCU.
My journey at NCU was challenging yet quite enjoyable. I not only learned a lot, I accomplished my goals in spite of experiencing health problems and multiple surgeries. The staff was flexible and accommodating that enabled me to finish. I hope to give back by becoming an instructor to other doctoral students at NCU.

Find another school
I graduated from NCU with a doctorate and was immediately offered a job teaching for them. I am a highly experienced online instructor and always do my job above and beyond the requirements in every capacity which I did for NCU as well. Not only was I teaching for NCU, they required all those teaching at the doctoral level to serve on dissertation committees which I did as well. At the time, it was very difficult to get a proposal past the IRB which only had a single IRB reviewer who reviewed all papers. One of my students became frustrated with the review process and instead of speaking to me about it, he wrote to the Dean and complained. The IRB reviewer thought that I'd had something to do with the complaint and told the Dean that he could fire me or she would quit. The Dean fired me. I had no idea why it happened at the time and the Dean offered no explanation. The student confessed that he'd sent a letter and a friend who worked at the university told me that the IRB reviewer threatened to quit if I wasn't fired. Not only am I an alumni, I was also working as a student liaison for NCU as well. I was devastated at being treated this way by the school I trusted for a degree and for my livelihood. If this is how they treat their alumni, you might want to find a different school.

Best learning experience EVER
Best learning experience EVER. Thank you. I earned my Ed.S in Early Childhood Education with NCU. I want to continue to the EdD. I am looking to self-pay. I need a viable option to do so. My student loans were forgiven by the Veterans Administration. I am not sure if I qualify to initiate an FAFSA. I heard that if I did so...the loan would be UNFORGIVEN and I would have to repay my previously forgiven loan. Is this true?

I really enjoyed the learning experience at NCU, I had great instructors, and a fantastic Chair (Dr Michael Millstone). My only suggestion would to have greater collaboration between students throughout the learning process.

The instructors were excellent
The instructors were excellent, high quality, and well versed in their field of instruction. All issues and concerns within all coursework were answered, or addressed with the direction to formulate my own response. The advisors were all responsive and helpful. In hindsight, I would go through the program again.

Unfortunate Decision and Outcome
During my time as NCU, I was working towards my doctoral degree. When I first started, the university used part-time dissertation chairs and my chair changed 3 times.
Each time, my chair had a different opinion concerning my work and required different changes, none of which were approved by the university.
Finally I was assigned a full-time chair who required a rewrite and again it was not approved by the university.
During this same time I was dealing with a cancer diagnosis and treatment which eventually took my vision and I was unable to continue my work.
It was my lifelong dream to complete my doctoral degree but I feel that the constant delays and non-approvals was nothing more than a tactic to take more and more money from me.
Since that time I have received my 100% disability rating from the Veterans Administration and my government loan was removed but I am still paying on the civilian loan that I didn’t even know was a civilian loan, for a degree I never received.

NCU CLOSED ITS DOORS
I have always been proud of NCU and I even had several of my students go on to NCU to get their doctorates, even my wife was recently enrolled until she y found out the NCU is no longer. It was very disheartening to learn that the merger with National meant that NCU would no longer be in existence. This was very disappointing and disheartening, it is depressing to have pride in an institution that has the appearance that it folded. One point to make is that the merger should never have happened

Where Dreams Are Achieved!
NCU presented an opportunity for me to accomplish a lifetime goal of earning my Phd. The ever changing journeys of family and career life often took precedence to attaining this goal. But NCU developed and sustained an academic platform that conformed to my busy life. I will be forever a humbled ambassador to the institutional quality of NCU/NU!
