The PhD Program at NCU

The PhD. program in business Administration with specialization in Project management at Northcentral university (NCU) had given me the opportunities much needed to compete for the Front-Line Manager (FLM) position at my Job with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Texas. I've no reservation recommending the NCU programs for anyone who has the determination to pursue their educational goal, through the NCU online program. If it works for me, I believe you too can do it.

Outstanding University!

Outstanding University! Northcentral University by far is one of the best universities I have ever attended! Work-Life balance is never easy when working full time for the U.S. Federal Government, and maintaining a full household - wonderful spouse and 8 children! NCU worked with me and my schedule to set realistic goals for my future, and after experiencing how much they were in my corner motivated me to work even harder! Absolutely pleased with to be an alum of this fine university!

Having earned an MBA from NCU

Having earned an MBA from NCU, in taking the next steps in advancing my career and education, I reached out to three prior professors in request of academic references. Not one of them responded. I graduated magnacumlaude (please forgive the spacing as the review software tagged this as profane). I was disappointed as I was under the impression upon choosing to earn my degree from NCU that this online university was unique in its post graduation support. Fortunately, a professor from my undergraduate education, who is now the dean of a large university, was willing to provide the much needed reference.

Unqualified teachers, they cannot be called professors.

Unqualified teachers (they cannot be called professors), poor management of students' concerns, and I discovered outsourcing from the university and teachers to grade the work. I accused one of them before the dean and the directive, but they ignored my complaints. The books or materials were obsolete. Furthermore, what they have somehow built is the apparatus of how to exploit the alumnus with their student loans.

I had a good experience at NCU

I had a good experience at NCU, but I discovered that I needed skills in data analysis and database management in order to find a professional position, as my degree was a Doctor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing. Most of the research-related/data analysis positions related to marketing require these skills. Upon graduating from NCU, I enrolled in a program related to Database Management that included skills related to Microsoft Access as well as Microsoft Excel and SQL using Microsoft SQL Server Database. The only thing I would say is that, at the very least, you need advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite including MS Access and Excel in order to pursue a Marketing position, even with the DBA/Marketing Degree. SQL experience is also very important as well. Perhaps a dual degree offering in Marketing and Data Analysis would be helpful as part of the program. The instructors were excellent, and I gained a strong background related to Marketing.

I enjoyed most of my time at NCU

I enjoyed most of my time at NCU. That is why I gave 5 stars. I did not like it when I got a new chair every year of the dissertation phase. That was disruptive and very unprofessional. My last chair, Bryan Forsyth, was by far the best and he made it possible for me to finish the program. Still the education was great and every day I find ways to put the DBA to good use.

I had an outstanding time at NCU, I even have my son doing his MBA there. All in all, I'm very happy with the academics, the mentors, and the staff has always been extremely helpful and service oriented.

Overall good

Overall good. A matter of plugging away. Dissertation chair was as good as it gets. At the very last minute, after I had completed all the requirements for my degree, the (at the time, with minimal actual academic experience) new President of NCU had decided to implement "one more class" for everyone to take. I was able to talk with him and get him to agree that since I had completed all my classes under the previous program, I should be allowed to graduate. While it was a good chance to practice eating humble pie and crawling on my hands and knees 9 feet before kowtowing, I did not enjoy having to do so.
