I’d still choose Nomad again
Let me preface this by saying I have used Nomad esims several times now. Always had a great experience with Nomad. Possibly because I had never run out of data. This time I did and I didn’t get any warning beforehand. It happened when I could also not get onto wifi so I couldn’t check the app or top up. Which was, well, annoying. No complaints otherwise.

Nomad esim China is a lottery
In Fenghuang and Shanghai nomad esim barely worked. In Chongqing it worked well.

Coverage left something to be desired
Coverage left something to be desired, and more often than not I was on LTE instead of 5G. At least once a site was blocked which means the endpoint was not in the US. Overall disappointed given the price.

It was very hard to get consistent coverage throughout the trip. Only Vodafone was available and it wasn’t the best.
