What You Need to Know Before Signing (and Paying for) an Open English Contract
After using Open English for more than three months, here’s my honest opinion: it isn’t worth the price. The platform offers very little that you can’t already get for free with apps like Cake, Busuu, Memrise, or the countless English-learning resources available on social media. The biggest issue is how painfully slow the progress is. It feels like the system is built to keep you subscribed for years before reaching your goals. The only real advantage is the private classes, but those cost extra. If you don’t mind paying for content that’s already available for free online, and you’re not in a hurry to learn English, then Open English might be for you.

The service was fast and polite
The service was fast and polite, but it did not resolve my request. When I took the placement test, I was placed at level 6; however, when I did the first lesson at that level, I felt a bit lost—probably because I hadn't practiced English in a long time. So, on July 1st, I wrote to Open English Mexico to request a level change. They granted the request, and I decided to go with Level 4. However, after taking 21 classes at that level, I realized it was too basic for me. I wrote to them again today to explain this and ask to return to Level 6 but an agent, named Andrés, told me I had to submit the request through Hellow Brete. So, today I then messaged the Hellow Brete chat, and they were only able to move me up to Level 5. They told me the system wouldn't allow them to place me at Level 6, the level the system had assigned me after I took the placement test.
