The Peninsula Manila Decaying Back of House Culture

The Peninsula Manila charged me a hotel room that was previously voided in error. The front desk promised a refund for four times. It has been two and a half months now and have only received empty and false promises. Their hotel service staff is excellent. Rooms are average and dated. But back of the house finance is deplorable. They would rather get your money and make you wait.

Had our belonging taken away from our room

The hotel and its services were superb during our stay at the Peninsula Manila, Philippines. However, when my wife's brand-new shoes got missing from our room, instead of the management to do a thorough investigation and hold whoever might be responsible, they protected their staff. There're cameras in the corridors and they must have seen who had access to that room while we’re out. But they protected whoever might have taken the shoes. Making the situation worse, the hotel suggested that I perhaps packed the shoes in my luggage before checking out (I left my family in the hotel and travelled out of the Philippines). I found that disrespectful! How on earth would any decent person “steal his wife’s shoes”? No doubt, the hotel and its services were superb. But by protecting shady characters in their midst, the hotel is enabling them to continue taking away guests’ stuff. And that doesn’t augur well for the image of Peninsula Manila.

Afternoon tea at The Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong

Do not do the afternoon tea at Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong. It is really expensive I paid £57.00. I had the Gluten Free option and the portions are very small. The gluten free scones taste awful. If you want the gluten free option you have to book 2 days before. I didn't get sandwiches,I have been to many afternoon teas and they always have sandwiches. I got some sort of finger food type things and some small cakes. The service is good, The tea is nice.but the afternoon tea is really not worth it. I didn't feel like I got a good deal.
